Why do you love history? As part of his new video series, Dr Sam Willis asks Tudor historian Dr Suzannah Lipscomb about her fascination with the period. The pair talk 'bastard hiders', Henry VIII, and the bizarreness of the past.

Both these guys are great historians who make great historical documentaries. My husband love history and I really love watching programmes from both these historians. Hope they make many more documentaries.

What an arse licking missive! How much more unoriginality and turgid re-telling of the same old, money generating effluent do you need to swallow? Why do her looks (which she is obviously all too aware of and is an obvious aid to her being such a telly tart) have to get any mention? Answer = because you're obviously one to buy them, like far too many others who swallow the verbal and visual crap served up to them. She and Kate Williams are a pair. Notice how they're both interested in the same things - mistresses, woyalty, sex, money, glamour, Royal knickers, whores, Tudors, Stuarts, etc, etc, etc. Could say the same for Woosey Worsley, but she's ugly, so isn't in the same category, but just as much of a bore. Men who are like this are the ludicrous "History Guy" (it's actually on his "up his own arse" website) Dan white as Snow and Tristam Hunt (for the sake of decency I'll leave out the Cockney rhyming slang his surname alludes to; but a clue is, that he is a self evident one). You might have noticed they're all silver spoon mass debaters. Britain crawls with them - always has. You're a fore-lock tugging peasant for your obeisance displayed above.

Suzannah Lipscomb, David Starkey and Mary Beard are my favourite TV historians. (And James Fox if we can include History of Art.) All utterly eloquent without ever being patronising.
