Days of our Lives enduring star, Suzanne Rogers, is celebrating her 50th anniversary with the long-running soap opera. Rogers has played Maggie Simmons Horton Kiriakis since August 20, 1973.
In a very special conversation with Michael Fairman, the two take a stroll down memory lane as Rogers shares her thoughts on key moments in Maggie's life and her own life. From her scenes as Maggie the farm girl who could not walk, to falling for an amnesiac Mickey, to becoming an integral part of the Horton family, Suzanne gives insights on her humble beginnings on the show.
Later, Suzanne discusses: being the first actress to win the Outstanding Supporting Actress award at the Daytime Emmys, all of Maggie's children, and of course, Maggie coming back-from-the-dead, after Suzanne and everyone else believed she had been killed-off the show.
Suzanne and the late John Aniston, became a very popular couple on DAYS as Maggie and Victor Kiriakis. Here, Rogers details her emotions when she learned Aniston had passed, and then, playing the recently aired scenes where Maggie finds out her beloved Victor had perished.
The actress also chronicles how she left the soap after being diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, but how DAYS wound up convincing her to write her condition into Maggie's storyline. In addition, Suzanne weighs-in on Maggie's battle with the bottle, and the impact it has had on her to portray such an addiction on television.
