Suzi is a SUPERSTAR in Europe and in Australia and Japan and the rest of the Orient but not in her birth country, the USA. She belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a Lifetime Achivement Award, nothing less than that.her first single album came out in 1973, and this year she is still singing and preforming. She has made alot of albums and has done 100s of songs, which most of she wrote herself. A SUPERSTAR in her own right, for over 50 years. Dave in Sierra Vista AZ

This was the FIRST record i ever bought myself. The year was 1974 (Feb), i was 5 years old, i know this sounds too young to buy a record but i was with my older brothers aged 10 and 11. Our house was music mad and from this day on i would spend all my pocket money on records. I bought this 7" vinyl from Woolworths in Chapel Market, Islington, London. The Woolworths branches sadly no longer exist and will be sadly missed all across the UK... Great Tune, Great Memories!!!

I remember watching Happy Days around 1974 and this little dynamo came on named Suzi Quatro near the end and starting singing Devil Gate Drive. She blew me right out of my socks. I couldn't believe this little lady had such a powerful voice with so much energy. Quatro must have electrified the TV producers at that time. It was magic. Next time to the record store I bought a copy of her record album with Devil Gate Drive on it for sure. Decades later, I still love watching her perform on KZfaq. I have since learned that Suzi Quatro was a huge inspiration for a lot of 70s and 80s girl groups. John Jett says Suzi Quatro was a major inspiration for her to get into the music business. Thank you Suzi Quatro, and thank you John Jett, for all that loud, no compromise, kick- ass, Rock and Roll! --- ROCK ON, SEXY LADIES!!!

I think what NAM was telling us is that she paved the way for female metal artists like Lita Ford and Joan Jett. Joan Jett once specifically referred to Suzi Quatro as one of her major influences. Nobody is taking away from the brilliant Janis Joplin and NAM's original statement did not even attempt to infer that.
@jacquiethielen5 жыл бұрын
Joplin is whole different thing. She played blues and not a musician. Quatto pathed the way for women in hard rock/glam. She has inspired many women in Rock to this day. It’s just that she was not as much as a commercial success so she is not as well known to some people. And Janis Joplin had Women that influenced her too, like big mama Thornton, Bessie Smith. All doing it long before her.
