Bit the bullet and did my seals yesterday. Following your method. 2mm drill bit and a small screw... dunno what inwas worried about. Straight forward, no messing. Bike feels so much better now thanks!!

Perfect. I've only ever used this method although I now use plastic while sliding the new seal down to be seated. Cheers mate

@@motorcyclerescuer I got a seal driver when I ordered my seals just to be sure. Seat straight in
@motorcyclerescuer10 ай бұрын
@flaminfenix536 it's something I need to buy actually. Worth having in the garage. You still saved money even after buying the driver and parts which is great.

Ive got my bandit forks to do soon. Preparing myself to do it the regular way. But if i can get the old seal out this way first. Then this is the way im doing it. Lol. Work smarter not harder. Great vid!
@motorcyclerescuer10 ай бұрын
Yes I always find it easier this way. Do still use a old milk carton to slide the new seals in though.
@BANDIT_NOOB10 ай бұрын
@motorcyclerescuer yeah I'll still buy a seal tool/driver for how much they are. But your way defo looks less stressful lol

Just used this method on my Derbi Mulhacen 125 (same forks as a Suzuki Gs500) and worked well. I used a length of pvc basin soil pipe and the old seal as a drift, and was easy. Hardest part was working out how much oil to put back in! Thanks very much!
@motorcyclerescuer Жыл бұрын
I just look up how much oil and put that amount in. I don't over think it really. Well done getting it sorted

I never seen seals done like that. If it works with out it leaking great Charley nice one.
@motorcyclerescuer3 жыл бұрын
Definitely isn't leaking, I put some 2 stroke on during installation so it rubbed that up and down for the first hour or 2. My advice is to anyone doing it not to do an mot the same day for this reason. But today it was perfect.

I've got the seals to do on my gs500e project, great videos. I would definitely snap up the bandit if I had the cash. Top man

It failed the mot on Saturday for 2 silly things, front light and oil on disc. I've changed the light and cleaned the oil. It's great but has its imperfections the bandit.

great way to fuck up a set of forks. Correct way is to undo the allen head at the bottom of the forks and jerk the leg against the seal until it comes out. If the allen head is stuck, use an easy out on it.
@motorcyclerescuer Жыл бұрын
Although I agree there is a correct way to do the forks this way also works. As long as you protect the new seal on the way back down the tube. Your absolutely wrong what this will fuck up the forks. I would be surprised if you could explain how this fucks up forks? My guess is that you can't.

I was pretty upset, that's a old mechanic trick to say oh god it needs £900 worth of work in hope that someone says OK get it done. Fork seals were so easy this way though, no issues at all.

Nice alternative, perhaps tap the new seal into place using a length of pvc pipe. Good video as always

I've done them before using the old seal on top and it worked fine. I may buy an adjustable one for the future.

I have to admit mate I did have a ‘what the f**k’ moment or two. I have a bike where the bolt at the bottom of the fork is completely stripped out and this approach is probably all that I can do to save them. I honestly hadn’t thought of trying to pull them out of the top! It is also a great idea if you don’t have an impact gun or an Allen key long enough to reach. I have already ordered new forks but will give this a go too.
@motorcyclerescuer3 жыл бұрын
You are going to be shocked and wonder why people havnt been doing it for years. Being careful is the key but your normally careful. I had a shooting top cap moment like you aswell but the camera didn't catch it.

You have? Is there any cons to doing it like this? Why would people mess with that bottom nut all the time if it's quicker and easier like this. Thanks for watching and please subscribe

motorcycle rescuer no it’s easy way to do it I leave the leg upside down over night to get most oil out before I fit new seals oh and I been subscribe long time know keep them coming 👍

Great idea I'll definitely give it a go if I need to .... Hopefully the fork police stay away 😂😂😂

I think the only thing they could say is that you could catch an edge when putting the new seal on or something. Or if your not gentle with the drill you can ruin the fork. So be gentle, simple.

Hey which fork oil did you use ? I have the same bike and I’m wondering what to put in
@motorcyclerescuer Жыл бұрын
Hi, any fork oil will do really at 10w. If you were ever putting it on a track then you could play with the weights but for everyday use them 10w (weight) is all you need. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching

Hi. Indeed controversial way of doing the work. Haha. I’m dreading the moment I have to do mine. Did you get it ULEZ exempt through CoC?
@motorcyclerescuer2 жыл бұрын
Its ok to do the seals like this but use good quality seals and a seal driver to seat them. I got the bike retuned and then passed the emissions test. Have you seen my video on it? That explains everything. Check it out, flick through my vids and you will find it.
