I'm no certified tech and I managed to install the Acerbis 6.6 Gallon Gas Tank on my Suzuki DR650 and it seemingly works too!
That's right, I needed a little more range on my DR650! Having to stop every 100 miles or so and put gas in it was beginning to become a chore, not to mention constantly having to think about mileage while out in the bush. Now, after installing the big ol 6.6 gallon Acerbis tank I can just ride and ride and ride. No...really. I've pretty much doubled my range from 120 miles to an easy 250 miles. The following ride and review videos (two part) of the tank will show this.
However, I thought I'd first show how the install went and overall I'd say it wasn't too bad. As I mentioned, I'm no tech and I think I got it done pretty good without screwing anything up. That's what I'm thinking thus far anyway. The least pleasant part of the install process was dealing with the turn signals but I managed to figure that out. So, if you're considering one of these tanks check out this video and know that it's not terribly complicated to get it on. I do need to pull the tank off and add a little more padding to stop a slight bit of tank wobble but other than that, all is well. Few more videos following this one on the ride/review and then adding the padding then it's back to the desert!
BTW, this video shouldn't be used as instruction for the install but we all know that...right.
