@@Bokgat The bike had vastly more power, but in physics terms the kart will have several advantages. 1) The CofG is much lower, so it’s far less likely to wheelie. 2) It also doesn’t ever need to lean into corners, so the wheels can be flat and wide, giving much more contact area, and 3) lastly of course it has two driven wheels at the back, not one. As an example, Moto GP lap times are roughly the same as Formula Renault, or only a bit quicker than a super kart, despite the enormous difference in power to weight ratio. The reason bikes aren’t karts (or single seater cars) is because not everyone is just after performance, some people love riding bikes, in which case a kart or a car won’t cut it! It’s a totally different sensation and experience.

@@briankennedy5578 Hundred percent agree with you. The wheelspin at the start was ridiculous, and cost him plenty of forward speed. Needs a taller fatter tyre to increase the size of the contact patch and gear it higher. To be fair, that kart is built to race around a track, instead of being a dragster, those wheels make perfect sense from that point of view.

@@darrenjpeters but still there's the gear ratio. That short is ridiculous. And they will heat up much quicker. With a normal cart engine , I can see the small tires. Much less weight to get turning. With that engine , not an issue. Rode one of those bikes. Couldn't get full throttle. Quarter throttle has you on one wheel sideways. It's a BEAST

Yes, the engine was dropping a cylinder or two in the last few seconds. I wonder what the kart operators were anticipating. It's tiny wheels had an inferior contact patch for traction in a drag race - perhaps it was optimal for road racing but kind of wasted in this show.

I doubt the kart had a smaller contact patch, most likely the same or more than the bike. The kart is flat all the way across and has two tires. Plus it's weight is lower to the ground so less raising wheels. No way the bike can put down 400 hp without raising wheels in all gears. That's why drag bikes are longer and have wheelie bars.

Dolan Kang Agreed but the kart has a tiny short wheel base and not meant to take 200+ hp, the bike IS set up to take huge power and has a trick lengthened swinging arm to keep the power in check. The Kart has a bespoke HUGE engine that it wasn't designed to take, even with a few chassis adjustments.
