Can Suzuki's new-for-2017 GSX250R cut it for both experienced and A2 motorcycle licence holders? Acting Consumer Editor, Dan Sutherland has been running the pocket rocket this year to find out. And, with a daily commute of 110-miles featuring a mixture of A1 monotony with a few twisties on the way, he's definitely been putting the micro mile-muncher through its paces.
Get the best of biking EVERY day...

Why's everyone giving this kid shit? The review was solid. You don't need 20+ years riding experience to review a bike aimed at new riders. Good work Dan, hope to see more of you.

Yeah,it was a great review with some very important points raised, the brake behaviour and problem with getting different tyres for example. I'd guess a lot of those giving the bloke stick are summer time riders of flash stuff that they're scared to ride in the rain and stash away all winter. He does a 110 mile commute and rides in all weathers.Judgement works both ways.

Honest comment is always appreciated. Thank you. I've ridden all from 49cc to 1600 cc under my 55+ riding years and oh boy are these new bikes sweet. You don't need 200+bhp to be happy, just know your liking and limitations, and of course liquidation limits. Be honest to your self and stop chasing the rainbow, it will always be further away. Good honest 9 minutes. Thank

I put a 41 tooth rear sprocket on mine; much better on the highways. Also a windscreen clip-on extender, and side-bags from Amazon. A great little commuter bike, and some good touring as well. Cheap price and Suzuki reliable.

Unfortunately i wasn't so lucky with suzuki. Bought 2017 gsxr750 brand new back in the days for the track and got major engine failure in the first week after break it service, Got the engine replaced for free due to the warranty, Had engine failure again after only month riding it on the track. Got rid of it after. Bought brand new 2018 gsxr1000 and the chain snapped on me cruising at 110KPH which left me with some damage to sprocket housing as well as some cosmetic damages which cost me 1100 dollars to repair but this time sukuzi refused to pay for this because "chain failures not included in the warranty" but i managed to sue them and got my money back. Got rid of gsxr100 as well. After all of that i don't want to go anywhere near suzuki.

Nice review man! Keep it up! I am thinking of getting this bike to be honest. I am a big fan of Suzuki and this bike seems like a dream for A2 riders. I would like to know if there are any modifications you can do like, an aftermarket exhaust system, a better air filter or changing the chain sprockets to improve the bikes performance. Or is it better to just leave it all stock?

great review for guys like us from the 3rd world. for some reason you just covered all the basic details we need out here. lets have more reviews like the real world performance of a low end abs as opposed to without abs than the amount of traction control offered by a programmable microchip controlled exotic (FYI the price difference from an abs and non abs variant is a 1 month salary in these parts )

More and more 50+ yr old riders are coming back to bikes like this on which you can you a damn good thrash without reaching crazy speeds or changing the back tyre every three thou. We don't care that they won't sit at 80 all day because we've got a car too.

These young kids don't know anything back in the day a CB 500 would only do around 90 to 95 mph. Last I saw the speed limit is less than this. This 250 will do highway speeds of 70 mph all day long. It seems that people compare cc size to.manhood. I've owned superbikes that were stupid fast and it means nothing. I love this bike.

Are you prohibited in the UK from going slightly up or down in tire sizes when it comes to MOT? Here in the US, nobody would care if you spooned on a 110/70 front and a 150/60 rear -- or a 140/60 if you wanted a touch more ride height.

This is a good review, but the lack of "Tyre" choice is outdated. If you spec a 110/70-17 for the front there are lots of choices. The rear size has plenty of choices as well. Don't take my word for it just Google it.

Javontae Eaddy Yes these small bikes are definitely about the “fun” of it all. Just rode a Ninja 300 and that was boatloads of fun! I thought it was better in several ways than the Yamaha R3. But a bike that’s even less powerful and heavier might not be for me. I’d probably still take the lighter single cylinder Honda 300 over the GSX250R. Hopefully I can ride the Suzuki soon.
