David reviews his 2008 Suzuki gsx650f and asks the question, is it a good choice in the year 2022. He talks about the motorcycle's comfort, power, looks, cost, handling and how it feels like to live with this motorcycle as a daily driver.
The Suzuki GSX650F is a sport touring motorcycle made by Suzuki. It is essentially an updated Bandit with gsxr fairings, filling the void of the retired Katana. The 656 cc liquid-cooled engine has 85 bhp (63 kW) and a 12,500 rpm redline. The transmission is 6-speed with a chain drive. Anti-lock brakes were added as standard equipment in 2009 for Canada.
Since its introduction there have been two recalls for the US 2008 model for electrical issues that cause stalling while riding and improper battery charging, neither my bike suffers with.
I hope you enjoy the review

Great review and nice content! I got myself a GSX650F at the beginning of 2021. It’s my first big bike I was a bit worried about the weight moving from 125 but to be honest after few spins this bike is nimble as any other bike on the road great machine!! Safe ridding ✌️

i agree i love my 650f , has a great instrument , ive led round mine, yoshi r77 carbon exhaust sounds great and for everyday riding its plenty quick enough, double bubble is a must. i agree the weight is a issue till you get your confidence, and the throttle is a bit wierd till you get used to but when you get the confidence its fantastic, and the hydraulic clutch is just wonderful

I'm a 162 cm tall female and own this bike. It's an awesome bike but it is heavy as a cow! So leaning while stopping and standing on it is a russian roulette for me :D . And pushing it is a workout of itself. If it was just a little bit lighter it would be a perfect bike in my opinion.

Good video mate! My first ever bike and it's a great one to start with if you can handle the heavier weight. I'm 6'4 and I'm still comfortable on this bike! I've done hours and hours on it when touring and sure arse gets sore after a while but nothing a quick stop won't fix. I find my throttle to be the exact same, thought something was wrong with my bike at first. But again it's only a minor downside I can certainly live with 🙂

Loving my GSX650F and even as a shortarse it wasn't a problem as it was a simple case of changing the dog bones and putting shorter ones on, 40mm under standard. It's a great bike and you can change the lights for LED's without any problems. All in I'd definitely recommend this bike to anyone.

Liked your review. I bought one new (abs model) in 2015 with an Arrow end-can, still like it very much. I really like the looks of the bike. As you mentioned, its somewhat heavy when manhandling it, when riding its really ok. What I also appreciate is the stability of this bike, hardly sensitive for crosswinds on the motorways too. You mentioned touring on this bike. Since I also own a V-Strom 650 I must admit that the V-Strom is a much better tourer for long distances, nevertheless I agree you can tour on the GSX650F. My throttle is super smooth, no on/off issues at all, much better than my V-Strom which can be a little on/off. Personally I didn't like the rear shock, so I bought a good aftermarket shock. It gave a huge improvement, much better comfort and road contact. The front suspension is really good for a budget bike, no change there except for the occasional fork oil change. The bike is easy to maintain and will last forever with a little maintenance. Only difficult part is the valve clearance check, took me about 5 hours in total, fortunately no adjustment needed. One thing I must mention is tires, I do think this bike suffers from an almost worn front tire, the steering becomes quite heavy. Cheers!

Owner here myself and I just recorded acceleration times yesterday. 0-60mph I got 3.5secs dead. My bike is also due servicing, chain needs cleaning, oil changes. Despite that it’s still shooting off at the line. 0-100mph was about 8.6secs. It’s absolutely rapid. However at 5ft 7 I think I just about manage to walk it about. Luckily I manage but in London this size bike and weight just isn’t fun. However once u hit an open motorway or country road it’s a beautiful bike and so underrated. Suzuki always gets shitted on but a bike that starts up immediately after 3 weeks of being left in the rain and cold is a solid bike. 2008 model.

Great review man. Nice to find an Irish MotoVlogger. I'm new to biking, figured at 47 years of age it's now or never. I went with an 05' 650 Bandit for my 1st bike. It's basically the same bike only older and with less clothes. As a shortarse lightweight (5'6" 9.5 stone) this bike is a heavy bitch to manhandle but I suppose its something I have to get used to. Love the tail tidy on yours I've been thinking of doing the same. Where did you get yours, if ya don't mind me asking?

Been looking at reviews for this bike as a commuter in London and a fella from Ennis pops up, love it! Great review. I'm looking for my first big bike. How do you think the handling, weight and the on/off throttle would be like commuting on central London heavy traffic
@DaveTube3310
@DaveTube3310 2 жыл бұрын
Greetings from across the pond 😊 glad you liked the review. This is a brilliant first big bike, would be so comfortable as a commuter bike. Weight and handling would be no problem and the on off throttle is good at low speeds it get more noticeable if you're at high revs like motorway miles. If you can get one at a good price I would go for it, big screen and fairings will be nice in bad weather also 👍

@@DaveTube3310 I'm on a gsxs125 now and it's great in town but over 60mph it's not happy really. Good review,had my 12 plate from new and still like it,not a perfect bike but no bike is, the weight its heavy for a 650, throttle definitely on or off especially 30mph 50mph it does get annoying at times but you get used to it, I usually get approx 200 miles to a tank give or take 20 miles,so not to bad, still have original can on which I never understood why it needs to be so big. What you left out was the advantages of having a heavy bike like this: on windy, gusty days when others in my area on lighter sport bikes complain it's too windy to ride, I'm out riding with little difficulty; the same goes for passing large trucks on the highway.

Hi thanks so much for this review. I was prepared to buy one this weekend but after what you and others have said about the on/off throttle I'm going to pass. I have had carbureted sport bikes in the past that felt that way and hated it. I know this is injected but either way it's very important to be able to deliver smooth linear power off closed throttle to be smooth and safe. Thanks again, I have decided to pass because I hate that on/off throttle feeling. Stay safe.
