It's a sensational machine. I also own a Kawasaki Z1000SXwhich is faster and more manouvreable, but it doesn't give you the same sensation of power and awesome presence that the M1800 does. It is one of a kind and the satisfaction you get from powering along the straight and soaring through the sweepers is completely different. The Z is more practical for many reasons but I don't ride for practicality, and if Iever had to sell one of my bikes it would be the Z (great bike though it is.) My M1800 is for keeps!

“Need to constantly counterbalance the bike so it doesn’t veer to one side?” Where did that come from? I’ve had mine for 2 years now, and one of the things that impresses me most is its stability and how it holds a straight line on the highway. And that’s because of the excellent distribution of the 367kg weight, and the sheer length of the bike. And that’s why all that weight just melts away once you get moving. This bike also corners beautifully which makes it deceptive because due to other limiting factors (the length and ground clearance) you need to plan your corners more carefully than the feel of the bike would have you believe. Same goes for braking, plan well ahead, this bike takes some stopping. I wouldn’t recommend this bike for commuting through town, because the beefy grips and massive clutch lever take their toll in traffic, and you need to plan ahead - again - when parking because it’s easy to end up somewhere you can’t get out of by pushing. Anywhere that requires reversing up the slightest gradient will be a problem. But out of town, especially on the straight and wide sweeping turns, that is this bike,s natural habitat. Did I forget to mention the seat height? It’s important because on this huge bike anyone with a 29” or more inside leg can flatfoot it, so the weight is not an issue. That’s one reason I chose this over the Rocket 3, I didn’t,t fancy balancing an even slight,y heavier bike on my toes, and I’m glad I made that choice because this bike has pretty much everything the Rocket 3 has, which is more than any HD, with the added bonus of Suzuki RELIABILITY.

This M109R as it is in Hawaii, is a vastly under rated motorcycle. Especially for the money. It will easily equal or beat any of the Harley V-Rods, and will EAT any Harley 1200cc Sportster. The pedigree of the engine is unique. It was orginally a V4 superbike engine, that was cut down to a Vtwin and changed to shaft drive. It loses so little on the shaft drive that you can see why they did it. Plus no chain stretch and low maintenance. The torque is modulated by special exhaust waste-gates, don't screw with the exhaust pipes eh? By modifying it in very small, inexpensive increments you can easily pull "another" 20 horsepower out it. Now the VRod is out of production, the Indian Scout and the Ducati are the closest to it.
