Suzuki Jimny Drive Impressions On and Off-Road after 31” Tires and Suspension Lift-Kit

Tried to share my opinion on the vehicle feel after lift kit and new 31” tires and 15” wheel installation.
Pretty happy with the way it drives when it comes to acceleration, holding speed on the highway and braking as well.
The overall confidence wrt all aspects of the drive has really gone up.
On paper , bigger/heavier tires = poor braking
But in reality, the wider contact patch with road leads to better braking and the reduced braking due to heavier tires gets accommodated for.
Speedo error is around 6%.
Ofcourse it feels slightly slower than the stock vehicle, but it really doesn’t feel like a compromise due to the huge improvement on all other fronts.
The jimny definitely needed a better steering damper even on the stock setup, the foamcell pro does wonders and feels amazing compensating for thr increased tire size also.

Hi Jaideep, I remember you from one of the videos made by Abhinav Bhatt. In that video, you showed your trailer made for carrying bikes. I have a question for you. When we drive for hours in the snow, there is a lot of snow+mud which gets accumulated in the wheel wells. These are hard and difficult to break due to sub zero temperatures. How well your tyres setup will cope up with it given the fact that there is a very little gap between the rubber and wheel arches. Would you require to frequently break those frozen snow+mud. Thanks and do keep posting technical videos of Jimny! Your technical video are a hit on Team-bhp as well and like minded people really appreciate your content. More power to you! Regards, Akshay Anand

On the gap that was left: wouldn’t that be affected (reduced) if there was load in the car? I don’t know how your Jimny had in luggage / storage, but I assume the gap would reduce in a partially / fully loaded car. Not a cause for concern?

Great Efforts taken to demonstrate the capability.... Great Work too... Any recommendation for a set of Dampers & Coils to for 2022 Grand Vitara MT RWD. I had upgraded the Tyre from the stock 215/60R17 Apollo Apetura Cross to a 225/55R17 Continental Ultra Contact UC6; was offered a choice of a 235/55R17 Continental Sport Contact too but was apprehensive of it as the stock wheel was 7J. I use it mostly in city and some occasional highways runs and hence the choice of a sedan Tyre over a SUV Tyre - this car is used mostly within a radius of 150Km of Chennai.

Sir I want to upgrade my jimny tyres just like yours... Have few questions 1. Mileage drop if any ?? 2. Is it really worth the upgrade where mostly I have to drive 95% in city??? My thought is to keep stock tyres for 45k km. Then get things upgraded, if mileage isn't getting effected much.. would definitely spend money . Sold my thar for this!!
@avinash2_
@avinash2_ Жыл бұрын
One of my friends has upgraded jimny's tyres to 235/75r15 (yokohama geolandar).. He is getting only 8kmpl to 10kmpl mileage after upgrading the tyres.. Drive quality becomes lil bit bouncy (just lil bit)... Do you satisfy by your decision to sell thar & buy Jimny?
@getawaywithchen1929
@getawaywithchen1929 Жыл бұрын
From all of the rides I have installed 31”32, there definitely was a mileage drop, bit bouncy as mentioned above, and initial pick up takes a little longer. Jimny is a great fun car but if you’re concerned about mileage after mods, this ain’t the right choice for you. Thar is a wonderful all rounder too.
@scritorr
@scritorr Жыл бұрын
@@avinash2_ sir I feel thar has its + But jimny is more easy to drive car, and did offloading today. Completely satisfied with the stock jimny. Will not get wheel upgraded. For short hieght people or max. 5,8 hieght people can buy jimny and will feel comfortable. Secondly no matter what if you have money go for automatic variant only Because in 2023 driving way too old school manual would be painful by end of first year itself. BTW my stock jimny, in city is giving me a mileage of 12.1 - 12.5. Which is really decent. Drive slow, drive safe and enjoy the drive . My moto for having thar or similar vehicle. Thar petrol Automatic- 5/10 Jimny petrol automatic- 7.5/10

@@1976johnybrasco where do you live ?? Is there really need for it , not cosmetic look, but as in driving comfort?? The problem I faced with thar AT tyres is that stones get stuck in the wheel groves and created sound all the time , was a pain.... That's why I don't feel comfortable going for AT tyres where mostly I'll be driving on highway so Highway tyres are quiet.

HI Jaideep. Fan of your videos and the details you go into. Just had a question, saw another Jimny video where the guy had put 235 Yokohama if I am not mistaken and was complaining about the ride not being as smooth as the stock tires along with vibrations.
