You might have sold me on this one, Jonah! I’m looking to get an A harp (the one I have is simply not great, or even good) and wanna try out a “tin sandwich” style harp so this could be a good idea for me. Yeah, it’s a little thin tonally but not to the point where it sounds like a toy. Edit: since writing, I have actually got myself a Hohner Crossover in A. However, if/when I need an E-flat harp, I might get a Manji Sky in that key.

Reminds me of the difference in a single coil pickup in a tele compared to a humbucker…. A bit more gritty to my ears. I like it

I wonder if they'll attempt to make some low tuned versions of these and if it's even possible with the lighter reed technology they're using.

would you do a luky 13 power draw review ? these are slick, draw bend from 7 to 9 made easy

I purchased the sky as a last resort to try to play blues with bent notes. The sky is a little quieter than my Seydel 1847 but on the plus side it takes the absolute least amount of breath to sound good. Also only about 15 minutes into playing it I got my first real bends. I'm now excited again to play after years of on again / off again frustrated harp playing. I'm a tongue blocker and revert to lip pursing for bends only which is now starting to work, Yah.

My buddy told me about these. I just started and I have a special 20 and I’m having trouble bending 1&2 and I can’t get hole 3 any more than a whole tone bend and when I do it sounds choked off. Gonna try this guy
@fuckbored4724
@fuckbored4724 2 ай бұрын
By all means, try it, but most of the times when learning bending, the issue is a personal error rather than a hardware error. As long as your special 20 is gapped even just averagely, you should be able to get those bends. Keep practicing! keep us updated if the Manji sky does actually help

Hi Jonah, I know this isn't the best place for this question. But I'm going to ask anyways. Between the hohner Rocket and the Crossover which do you recommend for absolute best out of the box playability. I'm just starting out and want to get the better one of the two. I thought about the Special 20. But it seems like both of theses are better harps. Not sure of that, it just seems like that is the consensus. Also I will be playing mainly gospel hymns. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. I do know the Crossover has the bamboo, but it is laminated and water tight, according to what I've read on the net. All of this is just really confusing to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time and trouble.

They are both very similar in playability but they feel and sound different. I don’t think you would be disappointed with either.

Picked up one of these yesterday, and I am happy for the most part. The only thing is that the 2 whole step bend and the 3 whole and a 1/2 step bend both produce a ringing/squealing sound. This is mainly when I try to hold my bends for more than 2 seconds. I’ve had this problem when doing the 6 draw bend on all of my harps, but I solved it through altering my tongue posture. Never ran into this issue with the 2 and 3 holes though. I thought this was due to me using too much force, but when I breathe in more gently, it actually makes it worse. Anyone ever have a problem like this?

I have it in bluesmaster. Some keys do some don't. Philip Jers has a customisation that solves it, but personally not tried it.

I was actually thinking about getting a Manji or Manji Sky. But I also have a Suzuki Hammond Harp, and that one is not the best for some reason.

I love all three of my Hammond, though my higher keyed one is my least favorite. It’s a good instrument-might just want to see if it needs gapping better. You can find good KZfaq videos about it if you don’t know how. I got two Sub30 harps from Suzuki and one was amazing and the other would barely blow just because the reeds inside weren’t set well, until I fixed it.

I'm wondering how celtic tunes would sound and feel on these
@HarmonicaRevolution
@HarmonicaRevolution 2 ай бұрын
Probably pretty good. If they sold these and Patty Richter tuning, they probably be the best harp for Irish music. Something about the sound I feel like would really fit in that genre.

Suzuki harps generally disappointed me, especially the Hammond. I absolutely love the sound of the old all metal Tombo Aero Reed harps by Tombo. But overall, I'll take a Seydel Blues Solist Pro anytime! (edited to correct mistake)

It's crazy how everyone has different experiences with different harps. Some people swear by manjis, others hate them. Same with any harmonica on the market really. I saw someone swear by the suzuki hammond just the other day, now I see you saying you dislike it lol. Everyone is different I guess.

@@chrissonntag3968 Oh yeah, it's been so many years, I remembered them as Suzukis, but you are right. Aeroreeds do have an awesme sound, and Ive yet to see a Suzuki that doesn't sound cheap and thin, so it makes sense too :)

Anyone know if they're going to put out low tuned versions of these like they do with the typical manji? I think these would be great for fast Celtic tunes. I am curious if using thinner reeds has a trade off in durability and longevity of the reeds.
