I have been watching your videos for about a year now, and I have learned so much from you. My buddy's son bought a JR80 for $650 recently and it ran very similarly to this bike. He was really disappointed because it took all of his savings so I offered to help. It is the first time I ever attempted to diagnose and fix someone else's machine. I pulled off the carb, cleaned it and made sure there were no air leaks when I put it back on, but it just did not have any power. I was planning to do a compression test to see if it needed new rings, but I don't have a compression tester yet. While I was contemplating on buying one, I decided to search your videos to see if you had repaired anything similar. Once I saw what happened when you pulled off the exhaust on this bike, I took off the muffler on my buddy's bike and found it was completely clogged. That little bike absolutely ***RIPS*** now! It sounds so bad ass without the muffler too :) Thank you so much!

I would take that screw out of the tank vent..it needs to be open for the gas to flow smoothy...it's gravity fed. With the screw in it, it will slow the flow of fuel.

New complete carb is only $25 or less online. Complete top-end with piston, rings, cylinder, head, studs, gaskets, spark plug, everything, barely $40 or less. All day long on eBay. Because, you can bet, even though you try to clean these parts, especially the carburetor, it is usually pointless. So just replace it and start fresh. The gas cap needs to be able to breathe as well. Plugging it with that screw will definitely hinder performance. Also, I highly recommend a taller workstand. You can get one for little minibikes, so that you don't have to sit on the ground, or bend over all the time to work on them. They make very durable, but relatively inexpensive, hydraulic work stands ($100) that are almost waist-high when you extend them all the way. Much easier to deal with the little bikes when they are up higher.

Sweet man I had a ds80 when I was a kid it was my first bike , couldn’t kill that thing for the life of me, had it for over 7 years only did a spark plug and brakes , bulletproof bikes , can’t wait for the big bore , and you should also try and find a Suzuki ds80! Their 5 speed and rip pretty good for what they are

Hey just a warning for that big bore kit, it will probably work fine and everything even though it is chinese it runs good, but I ordered a kit for my pw50 and it came w broken off cooling fins which just looks bad and I also ordered one for my pw80 and it came cracked too. So yea it will still run fine just might have cracked cooling fins. But love the videos 👍

Make it go faster? Put a one tooth bigger front sprocket on it and save yourself $40 And what came out of the pipe? A rats nest? Always a bit suspicious when the one bit of missing video contains the cure to the problem.

those jr50’s take a decent amount of time to warm up my brother has one and it takes like 5 min to warm up and for the bogging to go away

Your not supposed to put a screw in the gas cap because the air is supposed to go to the tube that supposed to be there so the gas can flow good to the carburetor

If you take that screw out of the top of the cap vent you won't have to unscrew the cap.

I wonder why the oil level is so high... Is the engine burning oil? Or is there a slight oil leak?.. Maybe the previous owner did not know how much oil to put in.. To much oil is bad though!

You know there is a hidden gear on those .. they were made to have 2 gears but for some reason the US models only had neutral and 2nd gear .. you have to grind the little shift selector inside the case to unlock 1st gear .. there are a few videos on how to do it

Yes make it a 2 speed. Remove the second jet. The on under the small jet. Ck the exhaust port for build up. The exhaust port will get deposits and will make it smaller. Remove the head to look at it. Sometimes it is such a good job you can't tell the difference. No need for a hi compression head. Remove yours and take it to a welder. Have him fill in the head. I would say about half full. What a difference it will make. I did that on my 1971 Harley 125. It went from getting beat by everything to faster than everything. And climb hills much better. Good luck. And put a kid on it.

Yeah that is a 36 tooth sprocket in the rear. The factory is a 28 tooth. That is why you are loosing the top end speed. I probably wouldn't change the sprocket because it wouldn't be much fun in the grass for bigger riders. I have a factory sprocket if you want to do a top speed run I can send to you.

I know this is an old video but these bikes will do close to 30 mph. Your bike has a incorrect rear sprocket size. Yours has 37 teeth and it should only have 28. Hence why your MPH is terrible! Just an FYI for anyone who ever watches this in the future... Oh and front drive sprocket is a 13 tooth.

Mods you can do btw, is Remove 1 tooth in the front, you're most likely going to remove 1 link. (I got 28.5 mph). Remove the extra pilot jet (runs alot better) Port exhaust/intake www.amazon.com/Outlaw-Racing-12041-Universial-Motorcycle/dp/B006OP39US/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=7%2F8+bar+risers&qid=1559497977&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1, use this + any extra handlebars (I used crf 110 bars), and you will need a longer throttle cable for it to fit, the front brake line is long enough. I bought a Tomos a35 moped head, haven't put it on yet but according to some dude on thumpertalk, the high compression head does fit. Get a 16mm carb (I'd only recommend this if you bore it out but it will work on the stock motor). A tomos a35 big bore kit might fit but will most definitely need modification to fit on there. Also, very important. Get a new air filter and oil it, just doing that made my 50 run 10x better.

Do you have the wrong spark plug cap on that bike. All 2-stroke motorcycles come with a soft cap boot that needs to be 5 ohms. That hard cap is design for a 4 stroke bike that reads 0 ohms Man fix the bike man Chock on lol Very bike is like this

I beside myself that you call yourself a mechanic but yet you think a an engine as small as a 50cc engine that has a compression ratio of 7:1 MAX realistic figure 6:1 and with a hole in the piston. . . . You my man have a serious hole in your main piston. I can't think of one single cylinder engine that would even fire with a hole in the piston. Backfire because of load up possible. But starting by kicker. I know why I don't sub or follow because you have ZERO CLUE about how a two stroke even runs I bet . . . Yeah do your research and run your mouth after you find out how scavenging works . . . but at least I don't look like an imbecile to the world saying it's running with a "hole in the piston". Almost every video I watch of yours I cringe at your "theory or process" of fix or diagnose. I'll end with I like your carb clean process . . . I will give you credit that you at least pulled the bowl . . . But beside myself why you wouldn't pull the jets and make sure they are clean. It's not like they flow CR500 amounts of gas so to make sure they are not clogged is going to take more than air and lol . . . spray carb cleaner . . . I love that stuff . . . Cleaning without full disassemble lol 🤣. The other thing if you do Infact make sure the carb is fine but still seems like it's being choked or still constipated look at the intake or exhaust for restrictions. If burning the pipe with a torch or using a hair dryer ahhh . . . however IS NOT THE RIGHT ANSWER ! remove and clean or extract with extended grabbers but it will come out . . . AND PS. . . when he did get it running it was Soo lean he had to keep the choke and had held but if you're serious about making your channel grow . . . . Give real and serious and fact based information . . . Sounds like you're really in love with the sport . . . So go to school and give actual process . . . And not half-ass pull a carb apart but not pull the pilot jet especially on a 50cc engine. The passages are tiny to being with. And if you're recommending that torching an exhaust is better Then extender grabbers you are wrong. Ann then when you did get it running it was so lean you needed the choke to keep it from hiccuping and farting. . . AND WAS STILL WIDE-OPEN DOWN HILL! . . . Lucky you didn't blow it up because I was laughing when I heard it die I was like yup and on camera. . . But in all seriousness though the better the info and more accurate will bring more subs. And or watchers/recommends.
