Suzuki SV650s to Kawasaki ZX14 Shock Swap

I swap the factory shock on my 2003 Suzuki SV650s for a shock from a 2008 Kawasaki ZX14. I also go over some updates on the SV as well as things I'll be doing to it soon.

Just got my zx14 shock today. Gonna put some stiffer Sonic springs up front with some 20 weight oil. SS brake lines inbound as well.

I have the SS brake lines on my old SV race bike and LOVED them. I put some stiffer springs up front (I think .90) and used 15 wt. Between the springs and the shock, made it handle so much better! Good luck!

That chain has seen better days. Looking to do the ZX14 swap in the next few days. How did it perform for you?

Worked very well. Much better than the stock unit.

Mind telling me what those tail light you showed us in this vid are called? They have the turn signals integrated into them right?

Ebay specials, my friend! Just be sure to buy some weather stripping (cheap at Lowes) to use on them as they don't come with any. I think I paid around $30 for the taillight and yes, it does have the turn signals integrated.

It does not just drop right in. the batter box is in the way. at least on my 09 SV650s it is

09 is a total redesign. This works for Gen 2 and I believe Gen 1

Was it easy to set the sag for your weight?

Yeah, I was able to get it set pretty easily. Keep in mind it's going to vary depending on your weight. I did the research ahead of time to figure out this shock/spring would be close.

Sorry bro. This shock and some stiffer springs up front made a world of difference. Not as good as the Penske I had on my 02 back when I raced but still a huge upgrade from stock.

I understand this zx14 shock is shorter by about 8-10 mm than OEM and the rear ride height /end of the bike will drop almost an inch with out making changes to the dog links as well (apparently shorter links needed ) can you confirm ?

It's the same length 330mm.
