I bought a svartpilen a month ago - ridden it almost every day since, and it is the most fun bike I’ve ever had. I’ve been riding 35 years and have had everything along the way, including a Harley, a Ducati and a few Japanese sport or adventure bikes. I have liked them all, but there is something raw about this that makes me feel the road and wind more than anything else I’ve had. I’ll take my adventure bike if I’m going highway touring, but for twisties or urban riding this is much better. That said, this thing cruses along at 85mph very happily. I was in dirt earlier today and it was right at home there too.

Mine has been rocksolid. Literally not a single repair or modifications besides oil changes. After thousands of miles, if something happened to this one, I’d buy a new one instantly it’s just so much fun and a very different motorcycling experience than my larger bikes.

Just stumbled on this. Totally agree. A bike has to have that soul that makes you feel good and want to ride. Taken me 40 years of riding all manner of bikes from customs, Bobbers, cafe racers, UJMs and crotch rockets to realise my low powered, vibrating Royal Enfield Classic chrome 500 gives me all I need. 👍

I got the vitpilen 701 and they are "Characteristic" like the 401 from the single cylinder and the preferred Rev range down to how to use the quick shifter to have smooth shifts makes it so different than any other bike I've owned. It's definitely my favorite bike. Great content.

The grabhandles on all of these bikes are installed incorrectly. The plastic husqvarna logos on the seats are supposed to be removed when the grabhandles are installed.

Loving my Vitpilen 701. Still don’t quite get why so many Vit owners end up changing the bars, if they chose the Vit in the first place. 401 did feel a little cheap to me, but then again it is much cheaper.

Would you be able to share the specifics on how you replaced the handlebar (what you bought, where, how you did it). I’m interested in doing this as well, but as a noob I’m clueless when it comes to mods. I really need more of an upright seating position for riding in my city, all the Svarts are sold out and a few Vits left. Hopefully will pull the trigger this week on it! My back would really appreciate it!

Is your brake just at that super high angle because it won't fit any lower? Cause if you have to move your hand position like that to grab the front brake then it sure isn't in the right position :/ Dave Moss would have a fit if he saw that

glad im not the only one who noticed. probably has to do with the bars he put on. I also like to run my controls pushed in as far as possible so i am grabbing the ends of the lever. you can figure out easily why this would make lever pulling easier , and protects your levers from silly drops. Its something i picked up from years of dirt-bike riding.

I just got a 2022 Vitpilen 401. I intentionally chose it over the Svartpilen because of the clip ons and rearset pegs. Clip ons make so much sense on a fully naked bike yet there a so few naked bikes that have them. Yes, I agree, it has a dirt bike feel to it. I haven't tried the Supermoto mode yet. It will be interesting to see if it makes it feel if it has more torque as you said it did.

I'd like the Svartpilen a lot more if it had a generous rear luggage rack instead of that rear wheel hugger, and if it had twice the fuel capacity. A bit more ground clearance and suspension travel would be greatly appreciated. I love the low weight. It's worth the extra cost compared to the Duke 390 not to have any of that hideous KTM orange.

Hello, great reviews gentleman! You all do a great job... QUESTION PLEASE: Could you detail the bars you purchased and installation? Like did you need longer cables, would you buy the same bars again etc. I'm asking because I was on the fence between them and now i think I'm wanting the Vit but I'd add those bars for sure. I'm guessing it would be fairly straightforward except for the cable length issue that Andrew mentioned. He solved it with a straight bar. I would recommend one with a rise however slight. It makes riding so much more comfortable . But you will need to get new control lines made. To measure properly I would seek out dedicated videos to measuring for new lines. I've used dental floss in the past. Trace the existing lines with the floss and unbolt the old handle bars without undoing the lines and then bring the floss to the point where the mountings would be on the new bars. Then take that floss and measure it. This is what I've done and it worked but there will be some dyi videos cover bar swaps

I remember Yammie's and Spike's experience with a clunkier and rougher transmission compared to the Duke 390. Have you experienced the same with your two huskys ?

Agree with everything, except If you’re coming from a sportbike of any sort, the 701 model is the one to get. A Vitpilen 701 or Indian Scout Bobber are definitely on my list for next bike, after I’m done beating the piss out of my CBR600RR

i am seriously thinking about the Svart 401, I ride on smooth dirt and gravel roads in NE so I have to assume from the specs and videos its capable. Would you recommend it for 70/30 dirt-gravel/ street riding on stock setup to start?

Could you tell us about the long road experiences; I mean I was considering to buy Svartpilen just because its scrambler style and therefor cabilities but Vitpilen would also serve as good as Svartpilen in the long road trips I guess ..is that so? the reason I m asking this is because I like the view of Vitpilen far more than the other Pilen. Question: 701 or 401, which should I choose and why? I'm an advanced rider. Use my bike for commuting about 40 minutes a day, and a few rides around town. I like to thrash my bikes around, and get squirly on the turns. What do you suggest?
