I discovered this song on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack 17 years ago. I have been playing this song for my special needs daughter every night as part of our bedtime routine since she was born six years ago. This song is on a short playlist of bedtime songs and although we don’t understand they lyrics she hums herself to sleep to it every time. I just now looked for the video for it for the first time ever. There is really nothing I can say about the way I feel right now except serendipitous.

Here in Mexico, in Veracruz, there are big stoned head sculptures that belonged to the ancient civilization the Olmecas, some belive they where made to venerate important rulers, moreover they are also called baby faces due to their resemblance to a baby and it is belived that they where actually made to venerate people with Down Syndrome, since Olmecas considered people with down syndrome to be sacred and they belived that nature itself choose them and made them unique among other individuals.

This is probably the most beautiful comment section I’ve ever read. I just want to come on here and say this song changed my life when I was 13 years old. I’m 25 now, I was really going through a rough time at 13. I use to listen to this with my headphones and feel better instantly, like I wasn’t in my body and I was connected to something much greater than anything I could imagine. Looking back and thinking of it makes tears come to my eyes.

Gosh, i still remember the exact moment when i first saw this video on MTV in 2000 or so. I was thirteen or fourteen, still living in my old childhood house here in northern Italy, during a boring and lonely winter afternoon after i had just finished my homeworks, comfortably collapsed in our big, light blue living room sofa. That was elevating. Never stopped remembering that particular episode every now and then.

Something happened to similar (without the LSD, but plenty of alcohol). But it was ages before this song. My song is The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. Even to this day I feel it's my life's theme song (the lyrics are a mystery to me, but they can't be separated from the whole of the song). I want it played during my funeral, and at the spreading of my ashes on the Ohio River.

That's a very nice story, it can only take a moment of surrender. I had one sad song that led me to get in touch with a life's sadness due to a break up and not being able to run away anymore. It was Dustin Tebbut- the breach. It kept coming on the radio and it hurt to listen to but a deeper intelligence for once in my life said STAY, leave it on.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyways. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity, happiness, and joy in the simple things, some may think you're simple minded. Be happy anyways. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the end, it was between you and God. It was never between you and them anyways.

That deep cosmic wash of reverbed distorted bowed guitar at the beginning....is just insane. That's seriously one of the most transcendent pieces of music/sound ever put to tape. I found this CD during a particularly hard time in my life. I remember: $3.59, I was always so shocked; Less than $4 to save a life. Less than $4 to keep someone going on their second shift of the night alive. I've long since burnt the disc itself out and it won't read anymore however I still come back to this song specifically when times are tough. I don't know why this song just makes me break down and get out all of the darkness but damn, I'm glad it does; the amount of experiences I would have missed and the people I wouldn't have met.

Saw this music video on much music's top 100 greatest music videos of all time while staying in a cabin about 4-5 years ago, the day before my sister's wedding. Couldn't remember what it was called for the longest time, searching for a couple years with no luck. Then a couple years ago I got really into sigur ros, and finally found this song. Brings back so many memories every time I listen to it, even now. So glad I got into this wonderful band and finally found this song...

I remember hearing this song for the first time 12 years ago, during a very sad night. Without knowing who this music band was. That sad night, with this song in the background, an infinite pain invaded me. Today I listen to her again, 12 years later, and I just want to open the doors of my heart and cry in peace.

this was posted 3 months after the time I was born and my dad has always shared this song with me since I can remember. Every time it plays I have to hear it twice because the first time It lets all the sadness out but the second time I feel peace, deliverance, and freedom. I only pray that this song becomes more spread out and the beautiful souls of this world can enjoy the emotional/spiritual deliverance in which I rejoice in.

Did you know that in Jewish Orthodoxy, people with so-called down-syndrome are believed to be re-incarnated saints? because they can do no wrong or commit sin in that form. My Rabbi always stands up out of respect when someone with so-called down syndrome comes to pray at our synagogue.

+Circa Aeon So called down syndrome? Its called that because it is just that, and its a severe genetical disorder. Respecting someone because of a disorder is okay i guess. But its sad really, their one chance in eternity, spent with a disorder that always keeps them outside society, having naive religious people think of them as angels is just one of many examples of what these people have to endure. 99% suffer from mental impairment, abundant diseases and most die early from this condition. Oh, and by the way, religion is like downs syndrome for the mind, and although i respect you, i understand that you suffer from a severe mental disorder. Now Jewish orthodoxy sounds even more stupid than i previously thought.
