There is only one word for this Music... Wonderfull!!

The word "Trisagion" from Greek means "thrice holy", and the text is "Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us", where the word "Holy" is repeated three times. In Russian it is "Trisvyatoe", accordingly, and "Sviaty Bozhe" is the opening verse.

There is a beautiful austerity to this piece that speaks of the timeless, sublime wonder which lives at the core of the Russian Orthodox heart.

I LOVE this addition to the Liturgy. But I’m sorry to make this one small criticism; Sviridov has the opening bars marked “ppp” and then adds a Decrescendo at the end of each of the first few bars. This may be next to Impossible to achieve but it would be nice to see it attempted. There’s NOTHING more difficult than singing “pppp”. I was taught that there was no marking past ppp and fff which was “legitimate” anyway so this is sort of Moot. Nevetheless, Sviridov has been a GREAT ADDITION to my List of Favorite Composers.

Church compositions were the last work of Sviridov created in late 1980s and 90s, so there was no need of secrecy - but they were first published in 2001 and for this reason remained mostly unperformed (or unreleased in record) until the recent years.

Is this strictly suitable for use in church? I can't see that it's a harmonisation of one of the chants, and a free composition wouldn't be suitable for liturgical use.

The Russians I don't know if humankind has a destiny on its own. In some ways, faith has moved us through all kinds of things. The economical warfare and the mass population that builds on. Needs are running low on all kinds of people and the suffering on the global scale getting worse. It is making it far more difficult with the corona diseases to trade and share our goods with the world. This war we have with each other is about not compromising enough with our neighbours in helping each other out. We all need to fill in some more water with the wine to keep our back straight instead of mocking everyone. Placing blames has never been the answer to provoke total chaos to get things done. This war is there because someone does not feel a compromising feeling towards his land and the beneficial needs. It is time to put all the cards on the table and talk about what can be achieved together. Because it feels like a total loss to me if you just put all hands together to get medicine to clear the air. Now that corona is done we start a war amongst ourselves to get back our beneficial needs. Because transport needs were difficult to feed our own homelands and keep the pressure at hand. Religiously spoken please be a bit more understandable and try to reason with Russia as well. For we are but a handful on this earth and yet another black mark for the economical scale. Share what you can, compromise what is left, and try to reason with each other. I pray to god the leaders of this nation can talk this out. For a war amongst ourselves is yet another loss we create upon ourselves. In some ways, belief and trust had a way of telling us to be humble and share amongst each other. Nowadays we only look bitter and start placing blames it is time to really negotiate about life. Maybe we can talk, maybe things are possible, yet it may seem grim and pale like the cold winter. Open our minds and let us talk together about our mistakes nationwide that way we can truly achieve peace. Deep in our hearts, we can still feel this and it helped us through hard times and gave us the strength of love ... please let me always decide and listen with this care in my heart. instead of making a rush and undesired decision. for one should look a little deeper and calm the person for his or her vulnerabilities. I shall not forget this thank you very much, dear and kind person. For it is human to get on the brink of despair and sometimes rash decisions will cave in. Leaving nothing but undesired actions that will bring us further from each other. Are we even safe and protected from our own self people seem to undermine each other? If not it somehow seems we all get tested on our personalities and our acts. Listen with care, keep an open heart, leave your judgements in the middle. Try to really be understandable and give everyone the respect they deserve. For we leave so many marks unsaid and so many wounds open return to these basics. Like iron, control learns to measure yourself and keep the balance of both sides available. This world is already mad enough let's be honest and straightforward to help each other.
