Great video! good choice on "pontiac" lol. These days with of out of control price hikes, (which is getting on everyone's nerves), finding a product that actually makes sense with its cost is rare. I have owned quite a few TW products, honestly they all extremely good products, with stellar build quality, never mind the price. I have been waiting for this one on the D2000, my monster Paradigm X15 in my family room set up is gone, sold. Looking at the measurements, I probably won't even notice a difference sonically between the two of them in my case. (Don't play very loud) Except for the prices !! I am ordering one this weekend!! Great job as usual Mr "Spec" 👍👍

Thanks John. I doubt you will hear a difference either at modest listening levels. The great thing about the X15 is built in Anthem Room Correction, if you don't have a need for that than the Tonewinner subs are a great alternative.

I'd have to agree on the SVS "resting on its Laurels" I would hope by now they would have countered with newer models or a updated lineup. Having had a few models in the line, I am seriously considering a move to other Subwoofer Companies for comparision and pricing breaks.

Tonewinner is like the Monoprice of audio. Tremendous bang for the buck. I have two PB1000 Pros, and then I bought a THX 10" from Monoprice for a rear Sub because SVS raised their prices significantly after COVID-19. If I had bought the Monoprice first, I would have definitely bought the Monoprice THX series instead of SVS (although I would have gotten the THX 12"s). If I needed another Sub, I would get a Tonewinner to test. I do love my SVS Subs, but if I were doing it over today, they would not be on the list at their new prices.

SVS left the little man behind. It is what it is. I used to have a pb 12 plus back in the day when their price point was better. Left them and now have two monoprice 16 thxs. I’m all about that price to performance. Performance is crazy. Not much improvement to go performance wise after these except for aesthetics.

I recently got a pb2000pro and i waited for a sale. I found camelcamelcamel and set a price alert for $899 delivered and it went on sale for that price a month or two later. $1,099 is definitely not cheap, but for $899, i think it wasnt necessarily a terrible price. I was rocking a polk psw10 for like 8 years and had upgraded all my other gear slowly over time and went for the svs. My fiance really likes that i can easily change the presets via Bluetooth lol. I have a preset for day, night, and hip hop.

Even taking the price difference into account,I'd take the SVS hands down. The SVS has been shown to be flat out to over 200hz ,they have been tested by AH to have about 112dB at 25hz and over 113dB above 30hz,so a pair would be enough for most people. Low end is where most people need more output,and the SVS appears to have a bit more down low
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 5 ай бұрын
The better comparison would be the Tonewinner D4000. It's the same price as the SVS PB2000. The D4000 would most likely have more output across the frequency range. I did state this in the video, but the PB1000 would be the ideal comparison for the D2000. I have never reviewed the PB1000 though, so I didn't have measurements to compare. Thanks for watching.

Look into the d8000 the 18inch. No reviews as yet but I imagine it would kick arse to the pb16. I’m going forward with all tonewinners perhaps even at different sizes so each might be louder at different frequencies and the rest I can just use PEQ. I would be interested to see if 2 x pb16 vs a d8000, d6000 and d4000 would be better in terms of max SPL from 15hz to 80hz. The price would be the same and once positioned, eqd I’m assuming the 3 tonewinners woukd outperform the svs when both are tuned to be as flat as possible and then comparing the SPL

@@johnrogers3967 Your call whether you want to trust them 🤷‍♂, but I have nothing to hide. I measured them in the same spot and explained in detail how I obtained my measurements. Honestly, it isn't hard to beat SVS subs in output, there are a lot of subwoofers that will out perform them in output for the same or less money. SVS has fallen behind in output, and these measurements show exactly that. You also have to keep in mind this was compression testing, NOT CEA2010 burst measurements.

Hey Barrett, great video, as usual! I really love when you do these subwoofer comparisons and please, don't stop bringing them to your channel. I've never experience personally an SVS subwoofer, was decided to try to buy one, but here it's not so easy to find and when you do, it's EXPENSIVE! Browsing for AV forums, I could see how much a fan of SVS brand can be annoying when they have your feelings hurt (BY FACTS!). I personally knew the Tonewinners powerhouses through your channel, since then, I decide to try to get one, principally when I see they could easily beat SVS (that I thought it was "the" subwoofer, because of fan comments. Thank God, I kept my readings about subwoofers). I tried to get Tonewinner subwoofer directly from factory, from Summit Hi-Fi, talking a lot to Aamir, but unfortunately, it couldn't be possible because of shipping taxes and another taxes here in country. I was really looking forward to get a D6000, changed for D4000 and last attempt was D2000, that wasn't even possible to bring because of the problem mentioned above. So, fortunately I could get the Klipsch RP-1400SW (500 Watts RMS, 1000 Watts peak) and sincerely? I'm PRETTY happy what it can do! SOLID bass, speaker seems to be very sensitive, because it shakes my window even at low volumes! I'm watching again lot of movies, just to experience the bass of them with this sub (I've never had expeperienced bass frequencies from 20 Hz down). Overall, I'm pretty happy and satisfied with it, but the only point for me (and if it's possible, I would like you or your audience to help me) is: I like to hear very low bass songs, some of them way below 20 Hz. I realize that coil and amp get warm if I hear a sequence of very low bass songs, and I read something about it. So, if I want to hear these songs, without worry about this warm, Did I "need" to have a subwoofer with more power amp and more speaker efficiency and do not reach very loud volumes and a good SPL, without get the amp and coil hot? (sorry for the long text)
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 5 ай бұрын
Sorry it didn't work out getting a Tonewinner. The new Klipsch subs are great also. It appears they put a lot of effort into the performance and making sure their amp was more reliable. To answer your question. Yes, a larger driver subwoofer with a larger amp will have an easier time producing lower frequencies at louder SPL's without straining. That being said, your subwoofer should do just fine also. If you crank it a lot with heavy bass songs, it will get warm of course. Which could possibly shorten the lifespan of the subwoofer.
@jlsnr
@jlsnr 5 ай бұрын
@@SpecOfTech Thanks a lot for answering my question! I'm trying to listen to the bass songs in a lower volume, exactly because of the subwoofer lifespan shortening. Another detail that I've been realizing is the declared size of subwoofers and the measurements taken and related by users. I had a Polk HTS 12 and the real size is about 11 inches. This RP-1400SW, has 12,5 inches of real size, another user has measured and shared on Klipsch website, the size of RP-1600SW and it's a 14". I saw the reverse situation when an user shared on comments the Monolith 16" (a M O N S T E R ! ! ) has 16 inches of cone area and almost 18" of speaker diameter. Do you think that this missing inches could do some difference in any aspect (frequency range or SPL) in a subwoofer?
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 5 ай бұрын
@@jlsnr Cone area does help with output, but it isn't the only metric of course. Most subwoofer companies measure a subwoofers size by the basket, not by the cone or surround.

Hey mate, never ever listen to the reviews of most KZfaqrs. This channel is good because it has measurements. I’m an audio engineer and an electrical engineer and I am constantly ASTOUNDED with the BS most KZfaqrs say in terms of dacs or cables etc. Chinese gear with measurements now have the most accurate dacs and amps and preamps on the market. So when someone like jay iyagi will crap on about certain dacs “having chocolatey mids” it makes my eyes roll. There’s a reason why you don’t see live blind abx tests EVER, not even at audio shows. If you notice the trend where these reviewers follow the same theme. As soon as their is a product tgat measures superior, is cheap and comes from china, the KZfaqr CANNOT argue with it. How do they overcome it?? They use subjective crap by saying “it is accurate, but IT HAS NO SOUL, THE PACE AND RYTHYM LACKS REFINEMENT, HAS NO WARMTH, TOO ANALYTICAL, THE HIGHS ARE SHRILLED” etc etc all complete BS. Words that no dodgy KZfaq reviewer can ever explain are “micro dynamics” or “PRAT, pace rhythm and timing” these words literally have no meaning nor can be demonstrated. How can pace rhythm and timing be out, yet cannot be measured down to femto seconds. Even reported manafacturer measurements are BS. This is why it’s important to have measurements actually bench tested, like Baratt from this channel, Erin from Erin’s audio corner and amir from audio science review. If you really can’t test gear in your own home you can always rely on measurements tested (not given by manufacturer). If you are interested in subwoofers check out this! It shows hundreds of subs that have already been tested. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1KjlXBWMPAHgU_V9DAHSdIZ_ke0MxwH6ekt3vTIlYOJU/htmlview#gid=0 Good luck mate!

Great vids mate! Good lighting, great audio (I’m suprised how many KZfaqrs can’t get this right) very good information, honest and most of all you are reviewing the better bang for buck products from China that is now starting to become superior in performance and price compared to other companies that have had monopoly for so long, have been lazy with innovation and have crazy high prices. That is what seperates your channel. People like Pontiac lover are just gullible people who are hurt they spent a boat load on a product simply because most KZfaqrs praise it. Svs, like most popular audio gear aren’t necessarily the best performing, but are however the most popular. It’s a catch 22 in the audio world, the more dodgy KZfaqrs promote a product the more golden ear wannabes (who don’t use room treatment, don’t believe in using REW etc) will buy products and promote it to. I still remember when the starke ad4.320 came out. It was jay iyagis “amplifier of the year”! Lol Amit from asr did a bench test and it turned out to onky be 60w instead of 320w. The company kept lying and saying it was 320w and the testing must be invalid. Next minute the amp was pulled and never seen again! A whole heap of people kept saying how good it was untill the test results came back. This goes to show how jay (someone who can hear distortion 120db below the fundamental, and can pick up nuances that a null test can’t) couldn’t tell the difference between an amps power being 320w or 60w! That’s almost 9db difference and yet this master of golden ears couldn’t tell the difference lol in the future this channel will only get more and more popular as the old generation (those who got suckered into expensive dacs and cables) move on and the new generation who are more tech savvy who understand measurents and can read graphs that aren’t so gullible will relate more and more to channels like this. It’s amazing how many people with money like my dad will throw money at things they don’t understand, and will say sounds great will slowly be phased out. My dad is pretty much deaf and has 150k worth of audio gear. He has no room treatment and when I did a frequency sweep from the mlp on his paradigm speakers, the left speaker was 6-27db different to the right speaker! He doesn’t believe in subs because he doesn’t “like the boom”. Now I’ve explained and demonstrated so many things to him and he lies to me and says “oh I think it sounds worse” when I started fine tuning his system lol he is arrogant, and thinks he knows it all. He even had the wrong setting on his left macintosh mc75 which caused the 6db difference. I’m assuming there are a lot of people like my dad who think they know better, do not want to learn anything, will lie about things and will upgrade every time a KZfaqrs will show off a 10k dac. The only upside is my dad gives me all his gear when he upgrades lol even tho I beg him not to, and beg him to do some basic room treatment! I now have many things from dual dared 200w mono block tube amps, energy reference conniseur rc70 speakers, 2 Thor IV richter subs, arcam dac, Yamaha AVR, Yamaha surrounds, a denon AVR a Yamaha sub amongst other things. I showed him a demo of my listening room which I spent hundreds of hours tweaking and have it within 2db from 20hz to 18khz and you could see on his face he was confused, but could not admit it was better! So he crapped on about it sounding “thin” which I knew he would. Now like my dad, I’m assuming the haters on your channel are people like my dad. All the gear and no idea. You will never convince people like this of anything as they are stubborn and they will continue to happily get ripped off and not maximise what they have. It’s a shame, because their ego is their limiting factor

Pontiac love actually sent his kids to come comment on my video. Either that, or he pretended to be his own kids from his multiple YT accounts. I'm not sure which is worse...? The reviews are coming in. I have yet to see someone that isn't happy with the performance. You're right, the longevity of the components will only be seen with time. Customers will be looked after with the warranty and even beyond the warranty. I spoke with the distributor and he stated he is not looking to make money on the components after the warranty. Which makes it sound like the customer will get them pretty much for cost plus shipping.

I always recommend duals, to help smooth the response around the room. If getting 1 D4000 now, and a second one in the future is an option, that's what I would recommend. Because you will get more powerful lows from the D4000. If not, then I recommend the dual D2000.

@benfinesilver2250 3 ай бұрын
@@SpecOfTech Thanks… I am a little confused about it and I can’t personally audition or test any units. Please forgive me asking you further and elaborating…. As you are recommending 2xD2000, does that mean that the D2000 has the same sound quality as the D6000? Does that mean that the D2000 is on par with the D6000 in this respect? I am wondering if the D6000 has more expensive components or not. Is the overall quality of sound from the D2000 the same as the D6000 with the difference only being woofer size and amp power? Either that or the D6000 has better quality components and thus sounds better. I could imagine that 2 amps/sets of woofers have an advantage in THD, but that would depend on the respective qualities of either choice. Without asking you to elaborate and write an essay, can you say why 2 subs are better aside from room nulls/smoothing in different listening areas? I’ve had advice both ways in a forum with the opposite advice given too; that is saying to buy a single sub because the quality of it will be better. The common consensus is mixed. This could be a good video… having differing budgets and do in listening tests of 1x expensive sub vs 2x less expensive subs…whilst giving a subjective opinion on which choice sounds better. Perhaps budget plays a role too ???? That would be an interesting watch. Cheers in advance. If you do reply, much appreciated!

All i can say is that they wipe the floor against the PB2000 pro i auditioned at 2200AUD. Since they are duals I'm still in the process of getting them playing nicely together and with the mains. Hifi and audio have a spotty history with reviews, sponsorships and endorsements, but that is absolutely on the culture of the hobby, not on the creators being open about deals/loaners/etc. Sending out review-samples and asking for media coverage is bog standard fare in consumer electronics, and giving reviews with data and measurements just as well. Crying "shill" at a reviewer for saying that a brand has gotten too pricey or fallen behind their competition when their most recent update of a product (the 2000-series in particular) was basically app-integration, accompanied by a steep price hike over the last few years, is just stupid.

I don't comment a lot on most of the channels I subscribed to unless I can add my experience with a product that I have or something to do with home theater. But I've noticed on some channels how some people can be down right negative about something that's supposed to be fun. The only reason why I look/ listen to the different channels is to learn how to get the most out of the gear that I have and to enjoy the hobby. I just don't get the bashing and the negative comments when, just like the product,if you don't like or want it, you find what you like, and if you don't like what or how a content creator does their channel, don't watch it. We have choices. But, I guess we have some that choose to get in the sand box with the kids that's having fun and kick sand in every body eyes. I can’t stand people who think their expensive and exotic dacs are somehow superior. To me superior is ACCURACY, and the Chinese are doing great in this department alongside price. My question that no one can ever answer is IF all these amps, dacs, network switches, cables etc all sound different, then how does one know which one is the most accurate??? Nobody can answer that question, yet all the golden ear wannabes who are usually older than 60 *cough Hans beekhuyzen* seem to be able to distinguish them! It’s also hilarious how blind abx tests are supposed to be invalid because of a myriad of BS reasons given, yet these KZfaq reviewrs have no issue in giving comparisons MONTHS APART. How on earth can a rigorous level matched back to back blind test be invalid, yet a 6 month memory be perfectly fine to make comparisons. I would love to hear any golden ears answer to this :)

Tell me you missed some key points in the video, without telling me you missed some key points in the video lol. First of all, the PB2000 pro is the same price as the D4000, which has more output than the PB2000. Secondly, the D2000 is a compact 12", that still bests the PB2000 in most frequencies. The D2000 still has great performance and a slow roll off after 20hz. The D2000 is for those who want a small sub that still has killer performance for its size. The D2000 is the same price as the PB1000, and considering it has more output in most the frequency range, and is still close to the low end output of the PB2000, it most certainly will have more output than the PB1000. If you love your SVS subs great, but don't look at one little tiny aspect where the PB2000 does SLIGHTLY better than the smaller less expensive D2000, and act like it negates EVERYTHING else the D2000 does better. That's just silly. Look at the whole picture. Even then, if you want to buy SVS after that...great.

@Ghostly_G0ddess Your dad should feel special, he is the only spammer I've ever muted. It really shows his character that he sent his kids to my channel to defend the fact he legitimately spammed my comment section. I'm sorry he sent you here, have a great night.

SVS is falling behind they haven’t change their subs in years. I have SVS subs the reality is they need to innovate. Pontiac Lover 👀 mmmm 30 years of trash, JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK It’s GOLD DOES NOT MAKE IT SO.

AMIR has personally confirmed that Tonewinner will swap out individual parts(just like SVS) on AVSForums, there is no need to ship the entire unit like monoprice. On the side note SVS fanboys are the absolute worst!!!! There seems to be two camps, SVS fanboys and Subwoofers fans who love all brands(JTR,Rythmik, PSA, HSU etc) who seem to get along with everything and everyone. SVS fanboys always throw a fit anytime anyone says anything bad about their product. Anytime you try helping out a newbie, educating them about the "better" competition, there's always that SVS fanboy who swoops in playing the victim card and picking fights with everyone on the forums.

Hi Marc, thanks for the above statement. I’m a bit confused myself, being a newbie I got myself a pb 2000 pro, was thinking of going duals when I came across Tonewinner D6000, which seemed too good to be true. My room is 14x16x9 feet. If these D6000 Really outclass pb 16’s I can get one of these now (for my HT room) and shift/sell my 2000 pro and go dual D6000 later if need be. What would you advice. Thanks in advance.

D6000 likely stomps all over the PB2000 Pro's but personally I'm waiting for 3rd party measurements, i'm looking for anechoic FR graphs before making any decisions@@RaahulSawhney

@@marcgallant5270 is it fair to compare D 6000 with Svs PB 3000, 4000 or PB 16 ultra, like the videos claim? Would D 6000 really be that capable. I just ordered mine today. I can still swap it for PB 2000 Pro as the dealer is known and the delivery will take another 3 days

Measurements don't lie, it performed exactly like the measurements in my video said it did. When it comes to CEA2010 numbers, we'll have to wait and see. Those numbers also take distortion into account for the max output number, so it could change where it falls versus something like the PB16, but I still feel it will out perform the PB3000 with CEA2010 numbers.

You are getting your equipment for free, the main reason why you're "reviewing" Tonewinner crap and always love it. So take the negative comments like an adult and stop calling negative comments "spam" . People are allowed to call you out on your less than scientific reviews. It's ok if you want to play reviewer to get free stuff: I, like many others, just don't think anything you say should be taken seriously. So enjoy your free stuff, but know you're not fooling everyone.

Did you even watch the video SMH. As I stated in the video the subs aren't mine to keep. So NO, I didn't get them for free, as you so eloquently assumed. Again, you need listen, and stop being so quick to judge and spew your ignorance. You're not fooling anyone either. If you don't like me, don't watch me. Be smart enough to keep scrolling. I don't call negative comments spam, as I covered quite clearly in my video, that you didn't listen too. I call spam, spam. When you make the same comment many times, that is spam. When I ask you to stop spamming, and even offer to leave your initial comment, albeit negative, then he should be an adult and stop spamming. If he can't be an adult, I will put him on a time out like the child he is 😉. Have a great day, and try to be less miserable for all our sakes. Thanks for watching.

@@SpecOfTech😂😂😂 You just prove his point… Your measurements are NOT scientific… The way you do your review screams paid off (even you’re not) Try to accept the constructive criticism, rewatch your videos or ask to a trusted friend to tell you if you seems biased or partial and make corrections. You can’t just starting a KZfaq channel by fighting people who are not agreeing with you. All started by the non existing warranty…you could just be our advocate and talk to the manufacturer on our behalf. I wanted to get a Tonnewinner processor. I ended getting the Emotiva and I’m greatly satisfied. You reviewed the Emotiva like it’s the worst processor but you forgot to say that the ToneWinner is just a copy of the Emotiva (Built by the same factory, using the same software and more similar things. I enjoy your videos and even like them…but sometimes it’s too flagrant that sometimes you are not fair/realistic and any third person will think that your review are paid (if it is, that’s fine to me…you got to make some $ too). Please reevaluate, be our advocate and got this channel growing b

@@eEvangeliste I do the best comparison/review I can do with my equipment and my ability. Showing REW measurements is more than a lot of reviewers, and it helps a lot of folks. But @jocelyndeguise's comment, is not constructive criticism. There is nothing constructive about it. Nor do I have to accept overly negative and non constructive comments like his. I reviewed the Emotiva processor, well not just 1 of them, but 2 of them, and they both had bugs. I did discuss the bugs, but also discussed how good it sounded. If that isn't unbiased I don't think we use the same dictionary. You SHOULD be more concerned about reviewers who have nothing but good things to say about known buggy products like Emotiva products, they are the ones just in it for the money. For your information, Tonewinner makes Emotiva products, yes, but they use completely different firmware. I didn't experience any bugs with the Tonewinner firmware, if I had I would have said so. I do my best to be unbiased and fair, if that's not good enough, the viewer has the option not to watch me. I don't force anyone to watch me. p.s I am not fighting anyone, I have a right to stand up for myself against false accusations and biased opinions of me that aren't based on facts! I'm sure you can understand that considering you probably face a lot of unwarranted criticisms in your ministry. God bless. have a good night.

You sound like one of the butthurt old farts who has all the dollars but none of the sense. Let me guess, you are really hurt because you spent a pretty penny on exotic European gear which is being absolutely annihilated by “cheap Chinese crap” and don’t believe in measurements of blind tests but think your expensive gear you bought from dodgy KZfaq reviewers is superior. 2 words for you… “OK BOOMER”

“Less than scientific” haha elaborate? Of course you can’t. It’s a straight apples to apples comparison old man. Perhaps you do not know how to read simple charts, but doesn’t mean you have to get angry because of your lack of knowledge. Tsk tsk I can imagine your room now, no room treatment, expensive gear, no technical knowledge, but trusting your dodgy old ears. Sit down and spend less time opening your mouth and more time opening a book! You may actually learn something and won’t come across as so embarrassing in the future.
