WOW! Amazing deep talk! We react and review Dzogchen and Advaita: Gaudapada's Asparsa Yoga with Swami Sarvapriyananda. In the earliest teachings of Advaita Vedanta, Gaudapada taught a method called Asparsa Yoga, which means 'no contact'. This means that our Primordial Awareness never has any real contact with samsara or karmic afflictions. This is similar to how events in our night dreams don't alter or condition our normal waking consciousness in ordinary life. In Dzogchen its similarily explained that no phenomena or appearances make actual contact with our Buddha Nature or Rigpa. All phenomena as what we call 'our world', are the projection of the mind's mental constructs, names and labels, as maya, which the mind superimposes upon the space of Dharmakaya or Primordial Consciousness, the universal Buddha Nature or Brahman.
Asparśa-yoga literally means ‘yoga of non-contact’. The ten Upaniṣads on which Śaṅkara (A.D. 788-820) wrote commentaries have been accepted as more ancient and authoritative. Māndukyopanisad, the smallest of these, is uniquely distinct because of the comments of Gauḍapāda (7th cent. A. D.). This commentary is well-known as Māndukya Kārikā. The Māndukya Kārikā which advocates an extreme form of Advaita Vedānta, has used the term ‘asparśa-yoga’ twice. The word ‘sparśa’ is generally used to signify contact of the sense-organs with the sense-objects. Hence any yoga or super-conscious experience which has no contact of the senses with the sense-objects may be called as asparśa-yoga. In this work, this epithet has been especially used to denote the direct experience of the Ātman or the Self which is beyond the ken of all sense-organs and sense-experience. In this experience the lower self and the consequent ego-sense gets into one leaving unalloyed bliss only. This is the same as ‘jñāna.’ The prospect of dissolution of the ego-sense often frightens the ordinary yogis and spiritual aspirants who therefore try to avoid it. Those who obtain the greatest happiness, the highest good and the absolute freedom is enjoyed by him free from all the doubts and misgivings.

Swamy Sarvpriyanada is a brillint teacher, a master of Advaita vedanta. you can hear his lectures forever. he has given a few lectures comparing Buddhist teachings and Advaita vedanta. In fact, this was his study at Harvard a few years ago.

The vedas are said to be divided into branches called Sakas. The sakas are: Rig(21), Yagur(109), Sama(1000), Atharva(50). Each saka was said to have contained 1 Upanishad. So there are 1180 Upanishads. Unfortunately most were destroyed or forgotten and now only 108 remain. The upanishads are philosophical explanations. For example the Yoga Upanishads 20 in number explain everything there is about yoga. To really understand and learn yoga they are the most authentic source.

Zen/Buddhism and Advaita seem very similar to me.. throw in Dzogchen and I have no clue how to tell any of these apart! Although Sam Harris has a good video on Dzogchen. But would love to see any resource on how does Advaita/advaya refutes Samkhya (tirthika)? Or its answer to Madhyamaka?

In Vedic Sanskrit: Brahma (ब्रह्म) (nominative singular), brahman (ब्रह्मन्) (stem) (neuter gender) from root bṛh-, means "to be or make firm, strong, solid, expand, promote". Shi+Va=(Nothing) Shi: (Rep, No) Father Lord Shiva) representative of Non materialistic & Va: (Things)Mother Adi Shakti/Maa Durga) representative of Materialistic things 🌿🍃, so Shi+Va= Shiva, Masculine & Feminine are like a single coins with both sides but they are one with each other like a head & Tail in one coin, (Ardhanarishwar the form of Shiva & Shakti) but they don't have form because they are No + Thing= Nothing (One) the beginning & the End 🙏 Aum(Ommmm) Namah Shivay🙏 Bhudism don't teach Like this and they are like Atheist mentality, they don't believe in Brahman (God) 😭

If it is non dual.. We dont need to realise it is non dual... We dont need to realise bhraman because we are bhraman... This is the flaw of advaita vedanta ( non duality )... Shiva , Bhrama , Narada, Veda Vyasa, Sukadeva Goswami they are all dualist... 🙏 i trust shiva, bhrama ji, krishna, veda vyasa more than any non dualist..
