On ours if you put the rotor in neutral and then use a screw driver you can turn the rotor as you slide the concaves out and you don’t have to take the top bar out. It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. We swap just our front concave when going from barley to corn so that trick saves you taking a lot of stuff apart

Somewhere there is a gleaner guy thinking to himself... "🤔 I probably could of had my rotor out in the time it took you to change your concaves."

I have to change concaves twice a year and I find it easier if you put a thin piece of plywood on top of the augers so you can slide them easier. Especially for the front and back ones.

have you ever attached filler bars to the back side of the round bar concaves. looks like that would be a lot easier to do but not sure if it works for wheat. and thanks for a great video. much appreciated.

My apologies For my poor manners, I forgot to say: Thank You for all you and the many other farmers do year in and year out to grow the crops that feed us! I’m not a farmer, I’m retired from the Wastewater industry. I love the channel and how you explain the way you do things and what equipment is used. Ohhh an just so you know, not all of us here in Commiefornia are Purple haired morons. Some of us actually Love this Country!! Keep up the great work and stay safe!

Those are a bastard to do. Still easier than changing fuel filters on a Gleaner. The only thing we do different is we stack the concaves on a pallet in the order they got in and lift the pallet up with the fork lift. This way you can grab them, turn and slide them in, instead of lifting them off the ground.

I figure you may already know this but if you would of just got up in the cab and tightened your concave clearance it would of lifted that top plate you took off to slide them out. I always tighten my clearance up before changing the concaves

Couldn’t you put the concaves on the tightest setting or does it not bring the z channel up far enough

I agree. As an automotive engineer for 38 years, I was constantly aware of how easy or difficult my design would be to service. Design for assembly, design for service!! I was embarrassed how little I knew about the details of of how combines work, and this was a fantastic video that answered SOOO many questions! Thank you!

If you take a small ratchet strap and strap the z bar up...to the gear on the unload auger above your head...it will give you the room to slide in and out and won't mess up your sensors. We'd like to send a left handed wrench to whoever engineered that concave system. Terrible job.

I don't think it matters what color the equipment is the engineers don't plan on it need to be fix.

Hi there I'm surprised that nobody has said this yet, but you don't have to remove the support beam. All you had to do was turn the rotor by hand to free the threshing module from touching the concaves. There is a sweet spot to allow it to come out.

Well how the hell are ya ya big bucket of cold semen?? Those concaves or as I like to call them knuckle fuckers if you put a rectangular piece of 1/2 inch plywood on top of those little augers it makes taking off and putting on the concaves a lot easier.. you can easily use the pry bar and use a wood wedge to raise and lower it by tapping it on the plywood. Hope it helps you out..
