Swarovski scopes have very thin reticles in second focal plane, which is great for precision shots at day time. However in low light situations such reticles are hard to see if not illuminated. Since majority of hunting in Europe is done in low light, the illuminated version of this scope if far more popular than the non-illuminated version.
