The sailor manyo inks are so pretty but some of them are too light for my tastes, since i prefer readability over it looking pretty LMAO Hara hara is perfect because of that. Great video

so glad Sailor nekoyanagi did so well: I’ve got this inked in my Pilot falcon SEF and it is so pretty on my Midori lightweight paper - manyo inks rock imho:); thanks for this:)

i really like ink swatch videos, they are so helpful but i gotta say, many of these are not "purple" but more lilac/lavender mixes which are lovely but almost too light to write with. The last one you swatched i would consider "magenta" as it has a lot of red tone in it. Not trying to split hairs- most of us know to get any purple you mix red and blue- and you can get many iterations depending on those two colors....i do love the truer, darker purples and the ones here are great. thank you!

Noodler's La Reine Mauve is my most favorite purple at the moment! Dries beautifully in what you imagine a desaturated purple on a soft classic tee gently worn look if that makes any sense at all!

Monteverde Rose Noir is an absolutely amazing shading purple. The whole Noir line is great.

My go to purple is J. Herbin - Violette Pensée .. I am really surprised how popular are the desaturated and dual-shading inks in last years :)

Thanks for another great video! Purple inks are my favorite - especially the Sailor ones. The manyo dual shaders produce such beautiful swatches, but unfortunately end up being too light for use in fine nib fountain pens. I ended up buying a TWSBI Eco with a broad nib that I use exclusively for those inks.

My favourite purple ink is Pulot Iroshizuku murasaki shikibu. It is one of the colours I have inked all the time.

Anyone else had luck working with Sailor Manyo Nekoyanagi? I tried in the boldest nib I had, super wet flowing pen, it still runs very dry and too light to read.

While I do like Sailor’s Manyo series, Diamine Monboddo’s Hat and Robert Oster Purple Rock are my go to for now for purple inks.

Those colors are pretty but there are other inks that are much more in the purple family and are much more beautiful. Diamine has some gorgeous purples such as Imperial purple, Pilot’s Murasaki-shikibu, Diamine Majestic Purple, DeAtramentis Document Purple and Document Purple-violet. The document inks are awesome inks, they are wet inks and flow amazing! I have the DeAtramentis inks in one of my pens at all times!! So there are other great purple inks!!!💜💜💜

These inks are all so undersaturated that unless you paint with them, they look like light lilac at most.

Agame is not purple, its celadon. Fuji is lovely, I just got a bottle. The sailors in general, are just too washed out. These would be lovely for painting but too illegible for writing to my eyes. Hara Hara and Catfish Spirit are the only ones you could use for everyday. Same for the Dominany Indusrty. Beautiful but so pale. Yama Budo is pink, Why no Murasaki Shikibu??? Such a glorious purple.

Yeah it's surprising that Murasaki Shikibu wasn't higher up on the list - it's a really great purple! I think new releases from the year end up being higher up on the list since I'm looking at best sellers from that year :) Maybe people who love Murasaki Shikibu already had bottles of it!

Watching to see if, like the video on pink swatches, any of the purples are actually purple - or if instead they are blue, red - anything except purple.
