I'm not a bottle guy. But I've been interested in them for a long time. And I know that what you found there is a fantastic collection! A big Congratulations!

That's an amazing dig. All I found today was a 1940 Old Quaker whiskey and an eighties bottle with a previous digger's trash stuffed inside of it.

WOW! You found the mother load of flasks and Dispensary bottles in this spot. Awesome video and dig. I usually get really dirty digging for bottles just like you did in this video. That is when I found a lot of nice old bottles that were the best keepers. Now you did the same thing and the ones with the trees on them look more rare and more valuable than the other ones you found. I enjoyed watching this video and so didn't my son Lewis. I can't wait to see more of your video's and finds. Take care and Happy Hunting to you.

I was watchin this and SWORE Id seen it before!!!!! Seems like this year has been halfway decent to ya but if this WASNT a reload, 2 of these pits would go down as a golden year!!! lol...either way, was happy to watch it again...days like this are what helps to keep ya goin when your tired, dirty, cut up, bit up from bugs and some kid in the neighborhood keeps starin at you weird makin you feel like a weirdo...hahaha...or that your burying a body...lol.. Im SURE youve got that one before. What i dont get is the cops that shake you down when you have "old bottles" on your van like some huge neon billboard on wheels...lol..."so what ya doin there sir" while your in a hole, pile of glass, van with old bottles on it, etc.....looks like you dig commando style at times on "abandoned" lots hoping to get it dug and get the hell gone asap at times, which can be sketchy but still.....id bet your not there to sell happy pills to the kiddies......lol....anyways, love the videos!!!!! Make em loooooong!!!!! Keep em comin!!!!! and good luck from the bottle gods!!!!!!

I stumbled back across this video and loved watching it as much now as before. So from watching your posts, I think I understand that you hunt bottles to sell as the way you primarily make your living. That said, those SCD's were definitely a sweet epic score. Most importantly though is that you found not 1 but !!!!!!! 2!!!!!!!! of them palm tree glass beauties. Which rules because now you got OPTIONS!!! Takes a lot of the sting outa selling a gem youd love to keep when your able to sell 1 and STILL have 1 to KEEP!!!!!! I know Ive had to sell 3 things through the years cuz I had to, ( 1 bottle in an unknown color, and another collectable thats increased by no lie close to $10,000+ over 7 years) and I would now literally, no joking at all, seriously consider willingly trading a pinky finger or other equivalent connected body part to have back. Lol....But what the hell do I know though? Lol..., maybe you sold the whole lot at the first antique store you came across willing to pay ya enough for a big mac and fries and just enough left for a coke flavored squishy slush from 7-11....hahaha....Ok, now seriously, actual real questions.....Is this still/ was it then, the best dig youve ever dug cash value wise? If not, what beat it, and if so, whats got 2nd place? I think I remember another SCD loaded pit you tripped over someplace. Ok, last question...Did I catch it right, that you spent @ 100 days on the road, chasing glass with a shovel? Really? So I lied, sorry, now THIS is my for REAL last question....you ever hit on a packed pontil pit? I dont think i remember ever seein ya pull a pontil....hahahaha.....that just hit me, lol,....So if ya ever find yourself WAY down far, deeeeeeeep south..like Deliverance meets Easy Rider meets Roadhouse / juke joint kinda down south, in a bar drinkin Schlitz poured into a Red Solo cup from a 40, shootin the shite with some scary guy that rolled up drivin a lawn tractor, and you KNOW HASTO BE sittin quiet on at least a body or 2....the absolute LAST thing you might ever wanna ask that dude is if he.... "Ever Pulled a Pontil?"...hahaha....might find youself diggin 1 last hole with no glass in it.....whatever, its 3am I cant sleep, and it made me laugh at least.....lol....ok there sir......good luck searchin out them gems and dont cut your finger. .lol

There was maybe $600 worth in that hole, I have dug at least a dozen holes with more value then that. It was just the best dig for me in 2019. I do sometimes spend 100 days out digging and my girlfriend hates that ;) I only dug 1 1850's privy about 32 open pontil bottles in it but 31 were broken.

@@swbottles That you go out on the road for 3-4 months at a stretch is insane. Obviously theres good days and bad days but as long as your doin something that you can enjoy, and workin for yourself, thats a win in my book. I understand that its the smaller town rarities that have a lot to do with many soda bottles being worth much of anything and being close to Boston cant help, but I dont EVER remember digging a straight sided Coke or Pepsi at all up here, if they even user them here that early at all, and honestly have never given 1900-up stuff much thought. So are you aware of many post TOC New England sodas that would be worth searchin for? Always rootin for ya to find them sweet spots bud. Thanks for the videos!!!

Congrats, Scott...or, should we call you "Sandy" ? Just kidding. Thank you for taking us You-Tubers along for the dig of a lifetime! Thanks for editing it to make a better video, too. Your sometimes "self-deprecating humor gives a real feel for the hard, hard work you put in when you are out doing what you so love to do. You take us along, into the hole; why, sometimes it almost feels like we are there, getting filthy dirty, right along with you! Ill bet your hotel room becomes a lot dirtier than most after you check-in, before you have a chance to clean up. Such is life on the road, such as you must experience it. Please don't change a thing. I have never NOT LEARNED anything watching your vids!! Keep them coming! Good luck, Scott!

@9:11 what a beautiful bottle. Let me get this straight, your digging in a old out house poop hole right? Why would people drop their bottles in there? I should understand if the bottle was filled during a cold night. Am new to the channel so please insighten me.

Trash trucks didn't come by every week back in 1905, so they threw what little trash they had down that giant hole in the backyard.

When you do antique purchase vids again. Make sure you use "Shopping" stuff like that in the title or key words. Getting into that side of this....can make the difference in you making 400-600 a month vs like 1000-1400 a month for the same amount of views. . Those types of uploads really turned it around for me here. All those trips you made to dig bottles in like Texas and all those places....You should have just traveled and stopped in every antique store and thrift shop in each town. Make 4 or 5 videos a day. Have all the good content you want.......list a video anytime......and relax and have no pressure on you to dig bottles if you dont want to.
@swbottles2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. So far the video has been on a week now and has less then half the views of my digging vids. It also seems more people are starting bottle digging channels so more competition means less views per channel. I will continue regardless of how much I make per month.
@rockscousteau2 жыл бұрын
@@swbottles Yes. And in all honesty....this is what it really is. Only so many people watch bottle digging videos. It is the same thing with Arrowhead hunting. When I started here....the top guy doing it had 6,000 subscribers(with no competition). It was the same deal here for years. All this is---- is a pissing contest. What YOU need to realize is....you are a TOP channel here in this category. Views do not matter. Subscribers Do not matter. What matters is How much money you make. Being one of the guys who gets 50K views and make $1.50-$2.50 per 1000 views will never succeed here. Even using google ads will do that to you. Google ads is Google's response to view buying sites. Most of it is contracted out to 3rd parties. Believe me man. You do not want to be the guy with 200,000 views in a month and 150 comments on those views. Those people are not even in the running for anything here. It has been over for them for a while.(most of the people you hear saying they are shadow banned.....got pinched for view buying and influencer fraud) The one great thing about you....you have been here for YEARS. Longer than me. You automatically rank higher in the system. I am telling you man....You keep doing this...get more cameras....and really put in an honest effort here this is going to change your life. Just give it a little while....You are going to be satisfied. It is so easy to stop in an antique store....walk around....look up a few of the interesting items in the store.....get a little history on them. Then walk around and make a video and narrate it a little. You know enough about antiques.....You are a dealer. You have not taken yourself out of the running here for an RPM that spikes out at over $20.00 at certain points of the month.

I'm confused. 2 questions #1 why would anyone throw a bottle into the privy hole. #2. I guess after all the years the original smell has disipated? BTW....love you dedication to the hobby.
@swbottles5 жыл бұрын
There doesn't seen to be anything written about why people threw trash in the privy. I figure that the trash truck didn't come by every week to pick up stuff, so the homeowners threw some trash down that big hole in the backyard. I think most got taken by wagon to where ever the dump was. The smell goes away after 40 years.
