SWEAT & RHYTHM: THE TIV CAT DANCE (PART 1)

The CAT DANCE is a Nigerian cultural dance, peculiar to the TIV people of Benue State, in west Africa. It is an entertaining type of dance where the dancer dresses like a cat and tries to imitate the body posture and movements of a cat, with rhythmic gyrations to music.
In 2016, I was posted to The Benue State Council for Arts & culture in Markurdi as part of my one year compulsory National Youth Service, popular referred to as NYSC; being someone that is in love with the african cultural heritage and a need for its conscious preservation, I teamed up with 3 of my friends (Harriet, Dipo & Francis) on the first chapter of the Dance documentary project titled SWEAT & RHYTHM.

This is very interesting It's obvious I didn't get this on time I would have used it to do assignment in school....... It will be a great thing if you continue dropping it with mentioning the costumes and the steps in writing to help some of us making research sir. More steps..

Beautiful dancing steps. I first had the opportunity of watching it live when I was in Vandekiya immediately after my youth service in 1990. Love from Akure Ondo State
