Thank you for the thorough walkthrough of the honing and stropping process. The part about how to detect the burr by running the edge over the nail is very valuable

I recommend bigger whetstones than that. A proper benchstone leaves both of your hand free to control the blade. More comfortable, faster and more precise results.

The first thing I ever learned, was to keep a finger on the bevel edge. The pressire on the edge rather than from handle, helps the knife sit at the angle that it was ground to. I also prefer hard strops like this wood block, or a very thin leather glued to a hard backing. It seems like the harder, finer surfaces have less compression and give a more consistent and less convexed polish. When Indo want a convex edge, I use a belt/ barber style strop and use a combination of less belt tension, and or more knife pressure. Looks like a solid lesson video. Simple, to the point, major points explained, no "filler" of unneeded content. I would expect as much from mora. Good job.

I've always felt that Autosol destroys the edge of my knife. I think it's because autosol contains something that etches the steel a little bit. It will make metal shine like a mirror, but I think it also etches away some of the fine thin edge. Instead I use dry (wax) fine polishing compound on my strop.

Would love to know what tools you're using on your Tormek to do the initial grind, and how often you do it.

Great insttuctions! Just a question, why would you not use the leather wheel on the tormek to hone? I understand that this method works just as good but since you used the tormek for the grinding, wouldn't it be easy to continue with the leather wheel on the tormek?

Jag brukade använda Autosol men avskydde stanken av det. Nu använder jag Tormeks brynpasta, funkar lika bra och luktar knappt något.
