Everyone gets to follow their own path, and in a Western society, they have the freedom to do so. Burning something special to someone creates nothing but an enemy. Perhaps that is this person's goal. He has the right to burn it, the Muslims have the right to be upset, I have the right to dislike it, and you have the right to disagree. What a glorious time to be alive.

So besides the fact that it is repeatedly mentioned in The Holy Quran, the simple argument is that there is accountability in the hereafter as there is accountability of our actions in this life.
