"Sweeper Keeper? Really?" (Save Your Saves)

2 жыл бұрынThe decision on which role to play in Football Manager is always a difficult one. Except when it isn’t. Sometimes, a tactic or a player’s attributes make it so obvious what role a player should be playing that it requires a really significant amount of oversight to not get it right. I suppose that is what we are here to correct, but please, PLEASE, when you are putting together a tactic make sure you have players with attributes that can actually pull off what you are asking them to do. I love you all, enjoy the game, but be sure.
I do love breaking out the save your saves again. We get a lot of submissions now, even though we’ve limited it to twitch subscribers, so we try to pick a wide range of saves to cover as much FM ground as possible when giving out tips and tricks. I know some of you want me to pick the people completely failing at FM, and we do a few of those, but I also want to guide people in other phases of the game as well. It’s all about getting everyone to the champions league title and the hurdle is in a different place for everyone.

That guy had heard about the crossing heading meta and gone way too all in. His wide players were average paced and yet on pass into space and focus wings. I think a lot of us overdo instructions in the beginning because we don't realise how much the players will default to play to your strengths.

Update on the CWC save: I got annihilated by Santos Laguna and Man City in that year's competition, 10 conceded, zero scored. Time for another three year long rebuild!

I didn't know you could specifically distribute to aspecific player at 16:52. I always thought that the only way to do so is setting up your player as a TM or WTM. The more you know! This is why I watch these videos.

SA is a cool league to start Pentagon or Hexagon saves too. It's fairly easy in game to dominate the league and also you're always one of the stronger teams in the Continental competition.

You should check the training the teams do in the saves where a lot of people get injured. If you butcher your training schedule you can have slower player development (I think) and INJURIES

I did a Palermo save (and still doing it) on FM21 and it had Lorenzo Lucca but he was just a height merchant and so bad I sold him in my first season, but now he's talked about as close to a wonderkid...

Lorenzo Lucca is so good. If you have some one that can cross you just need to stick him upfront and just profit out of that. He won the Golden Boot in my save for a 3rd place Leverkusen

Same here. My scouts found him when he was still in Pisa during my 1860 Munchen save. Dude became my hero( Leading scorer of around 30+ goals) and he got so good that our arch nemesis, Bayern bought him from me. AAAAANND i can loan him back. And i did. Just a year in Bayern, they just screwed Lucca so bad that they wanted to sell him(made him a bench player) so I bought him back(bought him back for around a mill). And hes back to scoring 20+ goals. What a feeling. Prodigal son returns AND scammed Bayern. 😂😂

I got a tactics that is both offensive and attractive football, made by my brother from the start of the century and I’ve modified it ever since. It has always worked in every iteration, and you will win titles. Got like 6-7 on the attack and it’s working like a charm. And it’s not a “abuse the engine tactic”, it’s pretty organic.

You can win using attacking on many players but it depends on other things. A possession tactic can offset a lot of the issues for example.

Hey man, is it possible that we can ask the team that make FM to incorporate phase play to expand the tactical part like how PES has a fluid formation that you can set up base formation, attacking formation, and defensive formation associated with all the team instructions. I think it will make the game more fun and make people really come up with their own style of play.

A Saving Save falls into 1 of 3 categories.. 1) Tactic - your tactic is terrible - become more balanced (attack vs defense roles), stop clicking on every instruction. 2) Bad players - your players are bad, get better players.. and loan players in. 3) Scouting - a child setup your scouting. You aren't Barcelona, you are a 5th tier semi professional side, stop scouting for wonderkids. Or, you are Barcelona, stop scouting for 'at minimum - 5 star potential.' You also likely haven't even signed all the scouts you can sign. Fix this. Literally, you take 20 minutes to double check these 3 categories and you should win in FM fairly easily.

Game literally tells you about every 2 weeks if you are missing staff. Just have to check scouting once a year. Think people try to play fast and that’s where they simply don’t slow down and click on some menus, I guess

Yourself… it all depends on if you want to put the time into it, like with any staff position. If you have a loan army it may be wise to get a loan manager, if it’s just a handful of guys then just take care of it.

@@kieronparr3403 Honestly, only scouts and medical staff do their job in a way that you won't get markedly better results doing it yourself. It's a tradeoff between time input and control.

i have a problem in 20 with my loanguy not accepting shit... this window i have 2 out out of like 15-20ish loanlisted and there were offers, at the wage% i set up but still not good enough value, we are talking low youth wages also so the money doesnt really matter

Can anyone help, currently doing a save with Palermo. In Serie B and I want to get a senior affiliate for obvious reasons, the board accept my requests but always come back and say after an extensive search they couldn’t find a club. Any ideas if there’s anything I can do to change this and find a senior affiliate?

No you just have to keep asking and winning helps as it increases your reputation which means more likely to get a senior affiliate

so i just started out playing in Englands Tier 11 with Kensington Dragons (using a community workshop download). I have to say having a fitness coach with 1 on fitness coach, i call him jimmy fivebellies, I also managed to sign Dave the postman, He isn't named the postman because he always delivers, oh no, he's just a really good postie. I'll be honest Zealand, ive been managing since 1993 Championship manager (yes Im that old) but this feels like a challenge too far. 3 is considered about upper league level on any stat. Help a brother out. HOW does one manage a team of players with ability ratings below 5 on every stat. any time a player has a good run of form, he gets signed up to the 10th tier. No transfer windows so its open season on decent players.

78 GD after 27 matches? Those are rookie numbers, you gotta pump those up. I'm +46 in 9 matches in my Faroe Islands save (27 games in a full season). Granted, I'm now a regular Europa League knockout stages team and the rest of the clubs haven't really progressed into Conference group stages.

anyone know how to develop youth players to reach their potential? I've got exceptional youth recruitment so really good youth intakes, but my academy players never seem to develop much...

Good coaches for your youth team, good head of youth development, giving them a lot of playtime, if you are managing in Spain (or anywhere else where B teams are playing in the main division system) you can send them there to play, if it's possible give them playtime in the 1st team (in my country where I'm managing I need to have at least 2 U21 players in the first 11 for the first half so I have to play young players, but if you can for sure it will help to give them playtime for the first team) and if you can't get them to play in your squads, send them out on loan

I’m generally curious why? Buy to loan and then sell, how do you get to a point where you have a hundred of these?

@@kieronparr3403 but why? If their not getting game time or good loans for game time I’m not sure how you would get value for them when you sell them, thus, seems like a waste of money.

@@kieronparr3403 well your wasting money.. any guys that don’t fit into your top 23 should be loaned so they play and gain value to be sold or simply not bought in the first place. Until your champions league knockout regulars the wage budget should be managed tightly so that you have room to sign players that will actually improve the team

i gave up playing fm when the 2019 version was out, because they still havent fixed my local club, in which when i take them to premier division(Superligaen), when they do sponsor deals, is always so low, like 500£ for shirt sponsor for 3years, so the club will always go bankrupt, the only reason i can keep the club in the black, is selling out youth players, which stunts my growth also and no iam not running a huge youth squad. anyways in real life for that club, they are in deep trouble at the moment, after they got sold to new owners, which is americans, they took out all the money and did not invest in the club, its barely scrapping by now, its only alive because of the fans donating to it
