Sweet and Sour Horns at Jenkintown/Wyncote. 3/9/23

We spend an entertaining couple of hours at the Septa junction of Jenkintown/Wyncote observing Silverliner 4’s with their bland/austere/uninspiring S2M horns and the elegant Silverliner 5’s with their equally elegant K3LA horns echoing sweet music throughout the area. Their Doppler effect echoes intoxicate me like no combinations of Jack Daniels and weed ever could. We also see a couple of push-pull trains with their ACS64 locomotives which have gorgeous raised letter K5LA horns. A gorgeous afternoon in sight and sound.

When I lived in Newtown, I used to pass this station while riding the R3 West Trenton line.

I had a friend who lived in Jenkintown with in walking distance of the station. Rode the train a few times to visit. The last time i rode the rail lines still were called the the R? Forgot what number it was .

SEPTA abandoned the R numbers in 2010. Jenkintown-Wyncote was served by the R2 Warminster, the R3 West Trenton and the R5 Lansdale-Doylestown.

With the SL5 horns there, I was happy 😀😀. Those SL4 horns make me frown.

@@3985uprr but the SL5 K3LAs are some of the most beautiful sounding horns to ever be put on MUs besides the Wabco AA2s

@@evangouldtransit AA2’s are beautiful in that they sound like old interurbans but the SL5’s are just sweet sounding. Mellow and relaxing.

i think they made 306 exp to jenkintown local to WT specifically a 6 car SL5 consist

The new Media-Wawa line has the neighbors up in arms over their horns waking people up an night. They've been asked to stop testing at the Lenni yard after hours and there's a petition for a silent crossing at Lenni Rd.

@@evangouldtransit Federal law say there the brakes have to be bled of water, HVAC checked and horn sounded before a train can start it's day. There are five trains stored a the Lenni yard, the 1st goes out at 5 AM and the last comes back at 1AM.

Tim, did you notice the "WAWA TOWER" painted on the door of JENKIN tower? Apparently, it was done by a SEPTA employee who is a fan of "The Goldbergs," set right there in Jenkintown!
