Thanks for this. Numbed my fingers starting to learn this last night. Lost myself for more than an hour getting in to it. It's exactly the sort of thing that'll keep a beginner like me really interested. Strumming away on chords and learning them is fine as part of the ground work but I find getting a tune out of the guitar far more likely to keep me at it.
@CherryWongY98

keep practice it,play it slow at first until you didn't miss a note and slowly become faster,if you always miss a note at some part,just replay it over and over again,i hope it helps,that's what i do btw if you keep practicing it,you'll find out this song is not that hard :)

Love the tutorials. When I first started playing this, I didn’t realize it, but Slash was a genius how he put this together. Simply put It is playing a box scale pattern. We didn’t have KZfaq back then, yeah yeah I’m old, and the snippets from the music video wasn’t much help. I learned how to play this intro with aaaaLot of movement on the fretboard to different positions, which looked cool 😎, but never really hit each note correctly. It was close enough for a bar band playing to a crowd of “happily” oiled patrons. They never noticed the difference, we were the only ones who knew. The drunker they got, the better we sounded! 😂

I would like to mention that if you don't feel like down-tuning to play with the recording, you can play the whole thing half a step down (e.g. fret 12 would become fret 11, fret 14 becomes fret 13, etc). It's personally very convenient for me since I don't like messing with my tuning too much.

I've found a easier fingering to use. Just bar the 12th fret for the into play 14 fret with middle finger and 15 fret with ring finger. Except for end part which is middle finger on 14 fret g string and play everything else apart from 12 fret with ring finger
@wanderfra42

You could do like that, but you lose a lot of mobility which in intro is used to stop and ring strings for giving that dry feeling, but yes, for beginners may sound easier. Doin it the original way i think it's a more fruitful excercise for fingering.

That's REALLY good. Sound is so accurate at first I thought you were playing silent to actual recording. What wah pedal and distortion do you use?

Try going slower, and focus on really pressing your fingers in the right spot. Then, after like a week or so, you'll be able to speed up somewhat. It's pretty cool! Good luck yo! 🤘🏼🔥💯

I fell into the same kind of issue as you, bud. Try playing Crazy Train (Ozzy Osborne, even if you only play the first riff). It's near impossible without a pick, and it sounds great, giving you encouragement to use a pick (finally) just to play it. From there it starts becoming force of habit. Good luck man! 😊

I read somewhere that Slash came up with this as a string-skipping exercise, so that's how I use it. I seriously doubt I'll ever play this in public, but I'm still having fun with it.

you can actually make a strat sound like a les paul,by changing strings to power slinky and pick ups to sd coolrails(neck), sd hot rails(bridge)
