i just think it's really cool that green day acknowledges their early days and did a cool show like this playing their old songs with their old drummer. i can't think of another band that would do that. for example, i can't imagine, like, blink 182 doing something like this.

Played two shows with this version of Green Day in 1990. We were 2 bands from Vancouver touring down the west coast and they were running up the coast. We crossed paths with the two shows (Santa Cruz and Chico) and the guys in GD were nice enough to GIVE us a grocery bag about 1/3 full of weed which we were extremely thankful for. They were something special even before they added Tre. These early songs are my favourite songs still. You can definitely notice how much Tre added to the band's explosiveness and allowed Mike to really stretch out on bass. This is super cool even if John's drumming is kinda pedestrian. I want to cast Green Day aside and not even have any emotional attachment to them in the present day but...they do something like this and, you have to appreciate them for taking an impromptu trip down memory lane...the guest guitar player/guitar giveaway is killer too. I still have peripheral contact with them via their former manager (lives in Vancouver...plays with other good friends and former bandmates of mine) and I have to admit...Mike and I can still have a great conversation about bass players and playing...classic television shows, and, how mutual friends who may have faded away from either or both of us are doing. I would never be able to comprehend the insane path that their lives have taken... But, that sack o weed was a lifesaver

Pure respect. That's what this band has always shown. That is one of the main requirements in the Punk Rock scene. To bring back John Kiffmeyer like this is classy. And Tre Cool f course encouraged this as he is grateful to have had the opportunity to be in one of the greatest bands. Kiffmeyer did pretty good for this set.

Great performance, I’ve watched this a couple times now. These old jams are always great to hear. But what I want to know is, what was the fight over? Also what was on the piece of paper thing that Mike holds up?

That’s the thing about fights - they’re pretty much always nonsensical and incomprehensible

I was actually right in the pit next to those folks. The one individual had a painted canvas of Green Day that he was holding up to get the band's attention and the dude behind him was getting annoyed by it, so I guess his first course of action was to try to fight him instead of asking him to put it down.

@@imkevers That’s awesome you got to go to this show, but dang that’s actually wild that the guy got that annoyed and tried to fight the dude holding the Green Day sign.

It's interesting cause just from this one little show you can kinda see why this drummer didn't work out. There's a chemistry issue with him and billies personality that don't mix very well. Pay attention and you'll see it it's interesting.

At some point in this show, Bj atarted the Pasalacqua riff and then said that they will save the song for the headliner (Green Day played next), but the song wasn't played later, unfortunatelly

Hanes Wara it’s a uncommon type of drumming called open handed drumming. It allows the drummer to have more access to things around him. I personally don’t know if he’s a lefty but I’m a rightie and I play open handed. It’s useful having that ride cymbal sitting to the left of the hat.

@@mattresshowe4329 I know that some drummer playing open handed hi hat or ride, but the kick drum fit with their prefference foot. I think John is left handed, and the early he plays drum he use right handed kit. So he move the hi hat and ride there.
