Lynyrd Skynyrd has always been one of my favorites....
But the band, no matter what song they are doing, always made great records....
-----------
It was a 1972 Stratocaster through a Marshall, played by Ed King...
After the basic tracking everybody else added their brilliant parts
He wrote it with Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington
Hope you enjoy...
Thanks Tim

I learn allot from your videos, Tim, but being a "free" teacher myself, i have learned allot about being a better teacher from your videos. You are happy, enthusiastic calm and clear in your delivery and show what I firmly believe. ....music is a flexible artform subject to multiple interpretations and techniques. Thank you for helping to demystify some of this classic rock. Your upbeat attitude is contagious. My students want you to learn spanish.....😯

Tim, I don't put much about me on the internet, as i can barley keep up with my physical life. But look up TATEWARI or TATEWARI BAND (youtube). The 3 young men started taking lessons with me at 12-14 yo. Now in their 20's, 2 have completed college, and they just cut their 4th cd. Other kids play in local bands, helping put tortillias on the table. Others....well, you know what playing music does to enrich your life, even if just a hobby.

Hey Tim Chris Wintrip here. The pull off riff you’re demonstrating is G A G G B G G then bend C bent up to D. I’ve played with Ed King years ago. Check out his KZfaq video Ex King with Marty Schartz on Sweet Home Alabama. Thanks for all you do! Excellent series. I’ve taught privately since 1967 and your channel inspired me to create my own “Musician’s Emporium. would love to sit in with you sometime.

I checked that video out just yesterday, tons of info on getting Ed's part right. There's always a lot going on in a Skynyrd tune. Such a full sound with the other two guitars, plus the keyboard, bass, and drums. It's very hard picking one particular piece out. I try to combine the most important parts out of the guitars to create it as close as I can. But I do think Ed opens the tune up.

Hey Tim, great lesson and great factoid about The Strawberry Alarm Clock. Here's an even better one: I saw the group back in 1967, and the opening act was a guy no one had ever heard of. His name was Jimi Hendrix. Yes, he had the big hair, the wild clothes, and lit his royal blue Stratocaster on fire. Just imagine seeing him, and not knowing what to expect. He literally blew everyone away....and stole the show. Talk about a tough act to follow!! Ed King probably never forgot it.
