I really hate when people compare things to Sailor Moon.I see in the comments in Chris's third transformation(from Symphogear GX)they're like "Sailor Moon edition transformation."Or Vivio from Nanoha Vivd.Sailor Moon Sailor Moon is all I see.I'm sorry but Sailor Moon was not the first Magical Girls anime made.I had to get that off my chest.I'm sorry if this came off as rude but it just bugs me when people do that.Again I'm sorry...

I think the same! Luckily it doesn't happen to all magical girl animes (I like Pretty Cure and Fushigiboshi no Futagohime, and I've never seen a comparison in those fandoms, at least) but my favorite anime has, a lot in fact. It's a magical boys called Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE!, made actually as a parody of the magical girl genre and referencing Sailor Moon (in fact, after investigating I found out that at its beggining it was supposed to be basically a genderbend of Sailor Moon. I would've hated it if that happened). It has little clear references to other animes even out of the magical girl genre and it has good comedy and animation, but because the first season seemed like a trial season to see if the parody thing took off or not, most fans knew it as the male version of Sailor Moon, and well, it's okay, the animators made references on purpose, but after in season two the story turned more serious and original, it becomes annoying finding lots and lots of fans still calling it a male Sailor Moon anime. Luckily (or not, probably not) after season three (which by the way, got a brand new cast and story) ended, the fandom started dying slowly and now nobody actually calls it other than its name anymore... I personally don't see many references apart from the ones in the first season, and I'm glad. I don't like Sailor Moon and I'm happy that Boueibu wasn't similar, because I really would've hated it then.

Well, Sailor Moon did become the basis that made the Magical Girl Genre skyrocketed into popularity. So I cant blame you if people keep comparing it to Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon wasn't the first magical girl, but she set the standard for all the magical girls before and after her. That's why people say she is "THE MAGICAL GIRL".

Yes, Sailor Moon is not the first magical girl. The first magical girl is Himitsu no Akko-chan, then Sally The Witch debuts after Akko and a few improvements to the magical girl formula as well as her predecessors and successors, Sailor Moon improved some things that we know in other magical girls today as well as Madoka that destroys, improves and gives a more realistic point of view about from the genre of magical girls, etc, etc...

NO. This is definitely older than Miku, so Miku looks like Sweet Mint, instead of the other way around. Otherwise it just feels like when people say Cascada and/or Britney Spears copied Lady Gaga. =_=

If magical girls existed in pokemon (which it did in one episode, but it was more like precure), their transformation item would be a magical stone that holds a different pokemon type. and she will transform into a different magical girl with different features, depending on which stone that matches her pokemon's type she is using.

@Powered1Buttercup No, at the time that this was made, Naoko wasn't with an animation studio, she was still fairly young doing manga. These style of art was popular for magical girl(and girl in general) anime surrounding the decade that Sailor Moon became an anime. ^____^

@TheLostLenore Actually it is...How people cannot see it is beyond me. Have you seen the animation (tiaras are same design as Sailor Moon. I mean one could say it's like to Wonder Woman but still it's a lot different too, Their costumes are similar. No it is not just because they are mini skirts. The main character's shoes are like Michiru's only red. The speech movements are similar to Sailor Moon.) Hell I thought Wedding Peach was a secret season of Sailor Moon when I didn't know what it was.

@Powered1Buttercup Actually Sweet Mint and Sailor Moon were made by different animation studios with different character designers, but they look similar because they're both from the same era.

It's not even too much like TMM. Jesus, you would think that if people were to talk as if they know something, they could at least research it. This is more like 80's magical girl shows, if anything, before the sentai themes of Sailor Moon and shows like Mew Mew were even normalized into the genre.

Wedding Peach ISN'T a rip off of Sailor Moon, if you want a DIRECT rip off look at Pretty Cure (can't remember what series, was it five? Anywho...) the creator WANTED to make a rip off from Sailor Moon and they did it, the female main character has Usagi's hair style amongst other things (another being the wand if I remember correctly). In this day and age LOTS of things are 'rip offs' from other things, one magical girl anime can only stay 'original' for so long before stuff ends up the same.

@NegaPosi2011 @powdered1buttercup Well the only real direct ripoff of Sailor Moon is Wedding Peach other than that stylistically a lot of the other ones vaguely look like the same style. Not direct ripoffs. Sailor Moon is similar to this stylistically but VERY different as well.
