First time viewer, you shouldn't crack eggs over the batter. Some of the shells might get in the batter, crack them separately and scrap down as you go

My first time watching your video and at first I thought when I saw your measurements I thought this is a joke. But I watched it to the end and I had to write you and thank you 🙏🏾 I cook not really bake but my family loves when I do. I was supposed to make Jamaican rum cake this year for them but I didn’t have the wine and they love sweet potato’s so after watching you… it’s on !! And it’s also something I think I would enjoy… thanks 🙏🏾 again

I hope you enjoy it! As for good rum, look for Wray & Nephew Overproof rum. They also make the best wine for a real Jamaican black cake. You have to order the wine from JAMAICAN CARE PACKAGE. It takes a few weeks to arrive, but it is definitely worth the wait.

I came across this video last night after midnight, I was just getting ready to go to sleep, but when I saw this cake I was like...looks like I'll be up just a bit longer, lol, that cakes looks amazing! Always use dry measuring cups for dry ingredients and the glass cups for liquids.

I used a traditional 2 piece tube pan. They're generally 10-12 cups in size. But this is a big enough recipe to split into 2 regular sized loaf pans as well. Thanx for watching!

To remove the center of the cake pan, use two plates after releasing the center of the pan. Turn the cake over onto a plate and then turn it back onto your cake plate. Just a nicer presentation. Easy to do. I am going to make this recipe. Thanks for the correction on the spice list.

Beautiful cake! Questions: 1.) Oven temperature? 2.) Cold oven or preheated? 3.) What size pan are you using; holds how many cups? 4.) Tube or Bundt pan? 5.) Do you think that all of the extra sugar you used had anything to do with the size...it's HUGE!😊

Yes never ever crack eggs over the batter you never know if shells fall in the mix plus the egg needs to have that white mucous plug removed.

I'm glad you were paying attention. Sometimes I forget. 1 tbsp of each, except ginger. That's 1 tsp. Thanx for catching my mistake. I'll be more vigilant in the future.

Also a first time viewer and a home baker/cook and you should crack your eggs in a separate bowl so that shells don't fall into your batter. I started making my Sweet Potato Pound cake for my family about 7 or 8 years ago for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it has become a tradition. I include chopped pecans and mashed sweet potato in the batter. Beautiful cake but you should've removed the tube insert. What size pan are you using? Again a really beautiful cake, would've love to have seen it cut.

The cream cheese should have gone in with the butter. He has to over mix the batter to allow the c cheese to be well blended also the sweet potatoes so as not to overmix

I’m thinking you should have just drank your RUM! If I’m interested in a cake I certainly don’t want all of that alcohol in my CAKE. Was this a rum cake or sweet potato pound cake? To each his own, but I can’t do anything with that recipe.
