Growing up we were told that cassava can be deadly if not processed well and appropriately as with gari. Never knew you could boil, cook, and eat cassava right away!! The question is: why is cassava deadly in fried gari, but not in boiled/blended fufu? Someone please answer that. Thanks!

I just bought the powder and now I regret it. This is amazing! I am surprised any of these methods haven't caught on in Ghana. I mean I'm sure many people do this, but considering how labor intensive the traditional method is I'm surprised it hasn't been replaced by any of these clearly effective methods.

"Yuca" came from Spanish/Portuguese unfortunately, not African languages. It is called "cassava" or the local language's word for it in most of Africa, including Ghana. She just knows some people only know it as "yuca" so she mentioned it edit: sorry, spoke too soon, cassava is the one that came from portuguese! Yuca itself is actually from the Taino language, the indigenous people living in the Carribbean before colonisers came. Then the spanish and portuguese stole the word

I just baught a box of powder fufu in an exotic shop, because I'm a curious Belgian who loves food of all sorts, and I thought I'd try it. The same time I wanted to see how it's really made, from scratch. Looks pretty easy... And I'm happy to hear that African children are just as fickly with food as ours! they don't want to see the little seeds, huh... so kids are the same wherever they're from, little pests 😆

I have never ever tried Fufu But it is one of my goals in life. I even went through the yellow pages looking for restaurants that serve Fufu. Im excited about it. 2 of my children had it with okra soup. 1 of my children (my son) is a very picky eater. But they loved it !!! I might even make my own at first. There's a Ghana store near me that sells the powder or flour version. I know homemade is better. But I'll eventually get it at a good restaurant...

Thanks, I made a real fufu for the first time (not instant!) thanks to your video! In our house we call fufu “banana mochi” because it reminds us of the Japanese sticky rice cake. My boyfriend loves eating this. I served it with groundnut soup made with my Ethiopian spice mix (berbere) and the sweet flavour of the banana and peanut really complement the savoury and spicy taste of my groundnut soup. 💛 A tip to anyone new to making fufu, if your bananas are brown your fufu will be brown! *Laughs* The taste doesn’t change, unless the bananas are so old they’ve started fermenting, just don’t be surprised if you use older bananas and the fufu is not golden like in the video.

ONE MORE THING.. I've never had fufu and every time I've seen it on your page it looks stupid delicious! 🤤 I might be brave and try to make it, I'm Puerto Rican and we loooove us some cassava (we call it Yucca) and plantains are a staple (tostones) soooooo I'm excited to try this... Wish me luck🤞🏽 I just looked up some authentic recipes but if anyone has any suggestions or you're a pro at it and you know it's delicious, please please please please please please feel free to post in comments 😊 I hope everyone has a great day!
