We are going back to basics with this video. Today I am showing you how to use a selection of the piping tips that I use regularly. I show you some ideas that may not be super conventional---but my belief with decorating is there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way!

Another wonderful video!! I have had SO much trouble getting my flowers to hold their shape. I have tried buttercream recipes, one after another, and was so frustrated! UNTIL...I see you piping this royal icing like a DREAM! Maybe I need to try that? I also had another baker tell me that if I ever tried SMBC or IMBC, I would probably NOT use ABC much anymore! Do you generally use royal icing for decorations, even on cakes? Do you do the covering and filling of the cake with ABC then? Does royal icing dry really hard when you make roses and other flowers? Thanks SO much, you're a wonderful teacher!

ok so my weakness and where i need to improve is royal icing, do you have a good recipe for that? It's such a pain point for me. Thank you

I always just use 1 cup of icing sugar to 1 tablespoon of meringue powder and then I add a little bit of water at a time. I also always make sure to use my whisk attachment and whip for a while until it becomes light and fluffy. You really have to test out textures over and over until you get it right!
