Belt started slipping and squeaking in the rain over time getting gradually worse one day to the point the alternator pulley would loose a grip on the belt and the battery light would pop up and power steering would go out for moments. So I figured the belt had been replaced before and the alternator is brand new I bought a serpentine belt tensioner and swapped that out but helped for a little, then the belt still squeaked!!So decided to check the belt and it was torn in a couple spots so replaced the belt with a brand new one from AutoZone and cranked up with no squeak….until the car sat overnight and went to start the car and the noise came back!!! The belt would squeak for the first 5 to 10 minutes, but after driving it and giving the car time to warm up the squeak would go away temporary, but still it would drive me crazy. I was so frustrated and tired of throwing money at the car and the last thing imma do is take it somewhere when all they’re gonna do I ask for more money. So in a last effort I came to KZfaq looking for answers. When I saw the video was a little skeptical about it but bought the 303. The only place that locally sold it around me was Acadamy and it cost me $25 for the smallest bottle they have but I followed the video and the car hasn’t made a single noise since. I sprayed the 303 two weeks ago and was waiting to comment to ensure it really worked. Since then I’ve driven in the rain multiple times and not one time did it squeak! Thank god I found this video for the much needed answer. Definitely left a 👍🏽

Pleased to say that this worked perfectly! I had a loud belt and knew better but sprayed it with belt dressing. As usual it made things much worse. THANKS! I've been chasing down a belt squeak for two months. It's been driving me crazy. I even replaced the belt tensioner on the slim chance it was a weak spring. The belt looked absolutely fine. No cracks and not old. It still squeaked. I watched your video and the water stopped the squeak right away. I drove to Walmart and got a bottle of 303 Protectant and sprayed it on in the parking lot. Worked right away. Sounds like a new truck. I would never have guessed.

Had my 04 accord v6 get the power steering hose replaced for free at the dealer for a recall. When I picked it up the serpentine belt was squeaking due to power steering fluid being spilt on it. The dealer asked if I would like them to fix the noise I said no because there just going to do some half ass quick fix. I drove it around figuring it would just burn off, nothing. Washed it with a pressure washer and some mild detergent, nothing noise was still there. Remembered I had 303 from my headlight restoration, put it on there and like magic noise was gone! It’s been over a week and quite. Thanks just wanted to say I should have remembered and looked on your page to see if you had a fix for any car issues first!! @AnonAnonAnon
@AnonAnonAnon 5 жыл бұрын
@@lindengauthier4 Cleaned it mate as best as I could. Jacked up the vehicle, took off the wheel, accessed the belt from the wheel arch as well as from the top of the engine. Considering the age of the belt, it wasn't that dirty or contaminated. It is, however, aged. I think the 'elasticity' of the belt has long gone, but the 303 seems to have added a new life to it. Since I posted my comment I've since bought another bottle and 'soaked' the belt first without running the engine, allowed it to soak in for five hours. Don't worry if you don't have the time to clean the belt, just soak and start up and hopefully the squeak/noise will go. Good luck.

I use a long screwdriver or other metal device with a handle and touch it to the fronts of the pulleys (the center part that is not moving) and around the other components. This makes it crystal clear where the noises are coming from. The water trick works also, but maybe both methods together. The 303 protectant sounds great. Awesome video, thank you!! I have heard Gatorback belts are good for this as well old chap. It's a very jolly day when the squeaky belt goes away. That noise is enough to drive all the Queen's men absolutely mad - which is among the many reasons I do not have children or a squeaky belt. God save the Queen.

i have a 2019 chevy impala and since it is still under warranty and i had this problem the fix was free. after the job was done they told me that it was the water pump but 3 months later today the problem has reemerged and found this video. it feels so embarrassing to have that constant chirping but after putting water on the belt it finally stfu.

I have changed my pulleysnon my supercharger and changed the belt numerous times, even the idle control pulley. Squeak when cold start up. Takes around 25 mins of embarrassing driving to shut up. I tryed this spray and you know what... It actually worked. I soaked the belt in 303 for overnight in a container and it hasn't made a sound yet. What's better us that I don't experience belt slip under boost either. I'm not sure how that works, but it just goes lol. Thanks mate. I have been putting up with the noisy belt for almost 1 year.

@wes1934

I started doing this on the same belt that came with the camry when i first saw this video at 300,000k miles. Then spray-treating the belt every 20/30k for 5-10 minutes while it idles. The belt now has over 452k miles, makes no noise and still runs like new as far as I can tell. The only confusing thing with this product is there seems to be a few different names for 303 products that actually do the same thing - and for all intensive purposes, are the same thing (i.e., 'marine & rec aerospace protectant' vs 'Ultimate UV Protection', etc...) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's just a marketing ploy and it's safe to use either product because they are in fact the same; I've used both with no problem.

I did all this on my dodge diesel. Then changed the belt but the squeak came back even worse. Finally tracked it down to the tensioner. A constant squeaky belt noise is usually caused by extra drag from somewhere. My opinion.

Thanks for sharing interesting video. May I ask why "Belt Dressing" (bought at local auto stores) is not as effective as 303 UV Aerospace conditioner? I would think "Belt Dressing" is specifically designed for belts. I think you or someone may have mentioned that "Belt Dressing" is too sticky, but one would think it works like 303. Thanks for great videos!
@SweetProjectCars
@SweetProjectCars 6 жыл бұрын
belt dressing is just that a temporary coating on the belt that does make it sticky and glazes over in time it will start to chirp then squeak, it does not keep the belt supple and keep it from dry rotting..rubber conditioners do..

Hi there! Do I have to clean the belt before I spray 303? I have a 2014 Audi A5 and it is TIGHT in the engine compartment. There is just a small area for me to barely spray 303 on the belt itself. I'm afraid I will only be able to get to the smooth side of the belt, as the area is so tight, the grooved area of the belt is blocked. Will my belt still be protected if I can't get to the grooved area? I really appreciate your videos! I'm a single lady and I like to save myself money by doing preventative maintenance! 😀

Brilliant ...thank you my friend ... I will take your Advice and apply it ... I believe this will def work and as far as redoing it i would just reapply every time i powerwash my my motor maybe once a month or month n half ...i think that would be about correct wouldnt folks ??? I had a late 90s model GMC extra cab 4x4 with long bed that i actually made into a dump bed but still the stock bed ...n it was lifted with just 35s and triple shock mount with gas charged shocks n well you get the drift ...i could go on forever lol .. Heres the thing though ...it had the stock motor with super low miles under 80 i believe when i purchased her ... I never knew about the serious issue they had with the new single belt system they hed switched to from the old school triple pullys like each pump had its own belt so since they switched to the single the way they had bolted the power steering pump went to the block below 2 bolts into block then 2 upper on another bracket that went to the front of the head and the first bolt going to the stock exhaust manifold ...anyway the point was was that it kept chewing up belts n squeaking like crazy when first baught frey at edge n tear up finally chew it up n snap ...this went on for about almost a year and i thought ok maybe its because i wash the motor monthly and powerwash it spray it with degreaser blah blah blah ..turned out that the bottom 2 bolts snapped off inside the front of the block and what they did was actually just weld the bolts onto the bracket of the PS pump so it looked like all bolts were in and secure .. But when ya ran the motor n jumped up into the motor comp.. You can see the belt wobbling just so ever slightly .. So i pull the whole surpentine system/single belt off till the whole front of the motor was stripped completely and i can see that the power stearing pump bracket had the bolt heads tach welded on and the bolts had been snapped off into the block .. So im thinking nightmare ...this is why i got this truck so dang cheap ... So to make this shorter then short book ...i had welded a bolt onto the front of the snapped off piece of bolt so eventually i can back em both back out ...cause this whole time im actually thinking ok let me do away with the new SERPENTINE system and go old school single belt to every pump n altinator ... So the point was that i actually thought that cause i cleaned n washed the motor so often that i thought i was not using a good enough conditioner for the belt ... Thats why it kept chewing up n tearing apart till it snapped i would say almost monthly ...cause they actually did not take the time to do it right and just weld bolt heads on instead of tearing off the front of the block and extracting the threaded bolt from the block ...NOPE ..do yeah thats the outcome but heres the thing i still wash the motor ona almost weekly cleanse ...that i need something to condition the belt and im asking if anyone has had an issue with the belt being to dry and this stuff 303 the stuff shown in video ...will that correct and how often will i have to apply the conditioner ??? Anyone ??? If ya actually made it through the whole post i would love some feeback ??? Thanks folks ...stay blessed

So, the belts and idler bearings went out on my BMW. I saw your other video on how to treat belts with the 303 aerospace protectant and I treated my new belts before I installed them. Just so people know, the bearings inside the alternator itself can also go bad. It happened to me. There was a squeak and it got louder as it went on. I got stranded at a downtown parking lot and had to replace the alternator right there. The inside of the alternator was shredded, copper and metal was building up underneath it, ceased up and your motor won't turn over. So be sure it isn't coming from your alternator.
