Guitar virtuoso and all-around great guy George Lynch visited Sweetwater, to hold a special workshop and also introduce us to his signature ESP guitars (Sweetwater having just become a new ESP dealer).
George took the time to sit down with Mitch Gallagher for a special interview, and also told us about his new film "Shadow Train: Under a Crooked Sky." This film will illuminate the cost of the destruction of the Native American community; to both the indigenous population as well as to their European conquerors. Learn more about this important project at these links:

Enjoy the interview, then check out George Lynch's signature ESP models at the link above!

I met him in '07, he was in town & needed his guitars (Brahma V & his Charvel Tiger) set up. A really nice guy who loved to talk gear. He was also a very humble, down to earth. I enjoyed our time together. I've met a lot of famous players who really disappointed me. George was the exception.

Fred for sure and more especially today with people. Growing up in the 60s & 70s was a great experience, and when the 80s style hard rock came around, Dokken was one of my main follows. Always enjoyed the intensity of George Lynch's amazing style, and it fed my love of guitars and playing. 58 yrs old this yr and I still can't get enough of hard rock lead guitar. I may never meet George but I am thankful for all he put forward for rock music & us musicians .

There is ALOT of great, fast, shredder, blahblah axemen out there. All over the world. GL is all that and GENIOUSLY harmonic with mesmerizing hooks that integrate Dons melodic vocals...all with perfectly voiced/phrased solos. The more I listen...the more GL seems otherwordly.

Great interview, Mitch Gallagher is a very good interviewer, very polite and humble and knowlegable. Like yolchie said, this is how an interview should be conducted. And on top of that George always great interviews and guitar clinics, my favourite guitar player, so when such guys team up this can not go wrong. Btw. Georges Tiger guitar became pretty roughed up by now:)

As others have mentioned, but worth repeating because it cannot be overstated, *fantastic interview ,Mitch & Team* Thank You Thank You! As a GL fan since Dokken came on the scene and watching their videos on Night Flight, I want to say 12:43 is a fantastic question! I swear that if I have/had ever the opportunity to meet GL, this is exactly what I would have asked him. Cheers!

I had no idea warren and him switched bands thats funny as hell.just goes to show you sometimes where your at isnt such a bad place to be. But i guess when Ozzy calls, you gotta at least roll the dice, but in George’s case, there was a bigger fish in the sea. I heard George stole an old Marshall from Nikki Sixx, wonder if thats true.if so,Thats also funny as hell. Love George’s playing though, very creative.

I think it was fairly common back in the very early days of the LA metal scene before it hit the MTV scene. A good friend of mine got into building guitars and actually worked with Lynch's old guitar tech from the 80s - 90s. I believe the tech gifted him one of the original snakeskin no-name guitars. He may have bought it... IDK. The guitar was fully custom but it was may have been a Charvel. It was originally Lynch's, then back to Warren, and then back to Lynch. The stories over the years became so convoluted and because those guys in the early days were all close friends they would gift guitars that were not their prized-possesions. And, because it was a 2nd or 3rd made snakeskin there is not the heavy paperwork other than when Lynch got it back, and then he eventually gave it to his tech and then gave it to my buddy. The traveling snakeskin guitar.

I agree I mean George has always looked amazing for his age. Even at Dokkens height he was well into his 30's and early 40's with Lynch Mob. Certainly didn't look it. And even in recent years on some videos I've seen and on that metal show he looked great. But man he really looks like shit here! Maybe its the lighting or what have you. But honestly who cares. I know I'm not much to look at when I first wake up or hungover. And I'd be lucky if I look that good when I'm his age.

Ohhhh... ah, I get it, the political thing. Well, let's talk about this, what does his political point of view have to do with his talent or ability to play music? Why did you even feel a need to bring it up? My original comment was made with only the intention of expressing that point through sarcasm. Instead you call me gay. Which is interesting indeed.
