Swervedriver are one of the great guitar bands and they're still making music as good as they did in the 90's. "I Wasn't Born To Lose You" was a great album. I put it right up there with their first 2 albums.

ABsolutely! I actually think they are better now on their second act than they were the first time around ... Especially live .. Live these days they are taking the songs OUT .. It's pure guitar alchemy up there with the best twin guitar bands of all time ,,, Sonic Youth, Wishbone Ash you name it

These guys are bloody brilliant! Such a great under-rated band. Not a weak album in their entire discography, which I urge everyone to check out. Great episode Ameoba, as per usual. Keep on keepin' on..

Zero Hour record label released so many great albums.. _99th Dream_ still gets heavy rotation in my house & captured a sound unlike any other, really. I caught a live Swervedriver gig in NYC that was definitely one of the best live shows I've ever had the privilege to hear. Such beautiful use of dissonant harmonic distortion.. Swervedriver shoulda / coulda been headlining. But so it goes..

6:40 Adam getting this album by the cover is my story of discovering Raise in a record shop window in Bristol, UK. There was something about the cover and I've been in love with Swervedriver ever since.

Hell yes, and he summed it up perfectly ... there is no one really like them and you put on one of their records and "step into their world." I'm glad he stuck with the new one until he "got'" it! I think it's magical ..one of their absolute best!

@@konstantinov Yes! I love their first three albums, generally like their next three albums, but when Music for the Age of Miracles came out, it was apparent that it was among their best output. Perfect music to listen to while walking through the falling leaves in Autumn at dusk.

Same here! I was living in Yosemite at the time. Used too play Raise on my Walkman as I shredded those bike paths on my Schwinn beach cruiser. Raise, Gish, and Badmotorfinger were my Yosemite soundtracks. Ah, the early 90's. Exciting times!

@@jonstfrancis I love Gish. I actually took a bus from Yosemite to Merced in hopes of finding Gish (i didn't know it hadn't been released yet). I did find SP's first 7-inch on Sub Pop. If I had known the band would be huge, I would have grabbed every copy! I eventually had to ask my parents to send me the Gish cassette. So sometime in October if '91, I sat outside my tent cabin staring at El Capitan, listening to Gish for the first time. It was enchanting.

Saw these guys open for Carter USM at the Brixton Fridge in 1990. Other opener was International Rescue (later renamed themselves Resque). Loved Raise and Mezcal Head, then my tastes changed when Britpop hit. Was nice to rediscover them in 1998 with She Weaves a Tender Trap which is still one of my favourite songs of all time.

It's sad to say that most Americans never heard of Swervedriver because of commercial radio focused on feeding us the lowest common denominator for profit. WMNF non-commercial not-for-profit radio in Tampa was a blessing!

I remember seeing this compilation called Un piecing the Jigsaw a tribute to the Velvet Underground pop up in my iTunes suggestions. On it it had Nirvana, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Swervedriver doing a cover of Jesus. I only had a few bucks so I bought the Swervedriver one. Weeks later ITunes takes it out of stock. Why we can’t have nice things....

Great band and great choices and gifts. I only disagree with that horrendous Sean Connery film. I had the displeasure to watch it,late at night on TV, and it's really awful.
