Here at Glossop Caravans we offer the Swift Basecamp 2 & Swift Basecamp 4.
The Swift Basecamp is compact and lightweight meaning it can be towed by almost any vehicle and storage is much easier. For 2021, all Swift Basecamps are now built with SMART 3. A totally timber-less construction with a revolutionary composite floor. Internally, the specification includes blown air heating, a large bed, a 3 burner gas hob, an oven and 85L Dometic fridge.
The large panoramic window fills the caravan with natural light and the fold away seating allows storage of large equipment such as bikes. The Plus Pack is also now standard for 2021 so each model includes a 100W solar panel, external gas mains and shower point, TV aerial, TV bracket with travel lock, door flyscreen and an oven & grill. Complete with Swift Command, the Swift Basecamp is the perfect vehicle to base your outdoor pursuits from.
You can stay connected to Swift Basecamp from your mobile while out in the wilderness via the clever Swift Command app which links you to the onboard Swift Command control system. Great review. He just forgot to mention 3 items that I could see. The cupboard under the oven. The cupboard between the oven and fridge and the drawer above the fridge. That’s some useful extra storage.

This is a bargain it really is. The quality is up there. For two people or one this is more than enough and if youre willing to sacrifice the one bed on either side completely you have a livable space that is great for longer breaks. And the awning is a brilliant addition for the extra fee, add a gazebo style covering to the side and you've got all the space you could new inside and out.

Great caravan and well promoted. My concern with storing a bike in it whilst in transit would be the costly and inconvenient issue if the handlebar broke the side window!

Thank you for your positive feedback. Storage of a bicycle will depend on the size of your bike. We demonstrated here how to store the bicycle forward you can also store it in reverse. During transit, we recommend if the handlebar has to be positioned against the window to use something to support it. I hope this helps!

Use your noggin! Pad the bar (I'd be putting a blanket or cover around bike as a matter of course anyway), put bike in backwards, adjust handle bars for transit (not a difficult or unreasonable task)... you know, common sense...

Thank you for your comment. We would recommend putting any bedding or clothes in a small transparent storage box with a lid just underneath either of the two front seat benches or in the wardrobe opposite the kitchen shown here 3:54.

Hi Steve, thank you for your question. It will depend on the year and engine type of the vehicle. The MTPLM of the Standard Swift Basecamp 2 is 1043kg (Fully laden weight). As long as the car's towing weight is over this, it'll be safe to tow! If you could let us know the Year, Engine size & fuel. Then, we'll certainly be able to get you an accurate answer. Cant be towed by any vehicle really, we had 2014 Honda Civic 1.8 petrol, 140hp we had to upgrade to a1.6 Diesel CRV ,the Civic would tow on the flat but on motorway inclines you were down to 3rd gear just could keep momentum going, hill starts were also a no go unless you like the smell of clutch and burning rubber from the spinning tyres you really need a diesel or a turbo petrol engine with lots of torque above 300 pound foot a car above 1.5 litres and it need to be relatively heavy as the basecamp it quite tall and suffers from wind buffeting badly when trucks passed you by, it was quite hairy even below 60mph, so no it cant be towed by any car. Nice caravan though with nice touches but heavier than you think.

Hello Leigh, thank you for your great question. You can in fact tow this caravn with certain models of the Fiat 500 range. It weighs just 932kg unladen. It is an incredible example of fantastic engineering in the Caravan industry and we love it!

Okay this is a WEEKEND camper instead of a TENT so everyone WONDERING WHERE do i put my clothes.bedding/ Well jeez if I HAVE TO ANSWER THAT MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET AN HOTEL . This would suit my weekend lifestyle Perfectly throw in my ebike THROW IN MY BEDDING [sleeping bag] A few cans of beans and GONE.

Went to have a look at the BaseCamp and was very disappointed, too heavy, too long and poor load weight allowance. Will stick with my ABI 4 berth adventurea even though it’s 20 years old it still serves me well.

Hi John, Sorry to here you're dissapointed in it, we can agree the Aventura is a reliable Caravan model and happy it still serves you well! However, did you know that there is a payload upgrade you can get for this Caravan increasing the weight limit from 111kg to 368kg! Hope this information helps you and thank you for your question.

@@glossopcaravans thanks for the info but when I bring the van home to load it needs to be off the road alongside the house. Sadly the length is critical. Also as we move to EV, GMW is critical and those extra KGs will effect range. No doubt we will see a resurgence of true lightweights that were around in the early 1970’s. I wonder if the old ‘Victor Mini’ might be in for an upgrade.

We’ve got a 2023 model . Nice and light , easy to tow, ergonomically well designed, but technically too complex and tendency to fault , and sad to say many components are straight out flimsy … it seems every time we take it out something breaks. The very first night one of the back reflectors dropped off into the grass!
