If you don't understand the value of Swim Jigs, this video is for you! This is an incredible technique and you need to be taking advantage of it! Swim jigs imitate panfish and shad better than traditional swimbaits and when you understand their purpose, they become an irreplaceable part of your arsenal. Here's what you need to know!
Swim jigs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and they're not created equal. Understanding head shapes and hook strengths is just as important as understanding the difference between a chatterbait and a spinnerbait. Pay close attention as Matt details his jig and trailer pairings so you can use the best combination for your fishing conditions.
Below you'll find links to the exact jigs, trailers, and gear that Matt discussed in the video. He's even included his favorite weights and colors for each. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I've watched a ton of TB videos over the years and picked up a lot of great tips, but Matt talking about "crashing" a swim jig through heavy cover has definitely been the best one. Caught so many big fish just rippin a swim jig through weeds, usually it gets a lil hung up and as soon as you bust it free it gets nailed by a 3+ pounder.

Still out at the lake and got curious on how I can get more on it

I live between Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow Lakes.. Typically I will throw 3.4-4" on flashy swimmer etc.. These always seem to do well this time of year. I am starting to play with larger swim baits 5.5 Swammer, 5" spark shad, 6" bag draft freestyle 6/0-8/0 hook range. My question is I have the Expride B 7'6" XH, is that rod too much for these larger swim baits? Also have the 7'2' Heavy and Med Hey..... Really enjoy this episode because of trying to build more confidence in larger swim baits and things of that nature.

@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin Ай бұрын
We often run paddle tails wrong side up on chatterbaits, but never on a standard swim jig. That has to do with a vortex that is created by the chatterbait blade, interfering with the swim of the tail.
