I first swam there in 1992ish. There was white sand on the beach that someone told me was from willow trees that had grown and fallen. Up stream from diamond creek (for years one of the most polluted in Victoria) and the Merri. Nude swimming was common, a go to after a morning of drinking chai at st Andrews market. The beach fell apart quickly after a staffy tunnelled holes in the sand in the mid 90s.
