Nice work. Keep it on. Now the question is, Do the walls and columns really take % plus and 70% minus lateral loads (quake) as per IS Code? How do you know and do make that happen? Dual system with EQx, EQy, EQz and Sprectrum Analysis as dual system. Can you help on such vidio. How do I join as I am in Nepal. No join button and didnt get / understood your advice on what you said in this vedio. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

I have learn so many things from your videos. It would be great if you make a video on how to design a shear wall when soil pressure is acting on it. I assume the same procedure can be used for shear wall that you explained in this video. In that case we will be having soil pressure only. correct me if i am wrong. Thanks jazakallah

Don't you think service/ultimate load combinations for Water pressure and Soil pressure should have dead load as well? I think if you do not add dead load, the deflections are going to be a lot more than actual.

Surcharge load is extra load on soil for any vehicle or machineries. The weight of vehicle divided by the contributory area is surcharge pressure.

Salam brother... Listen carefully... I have drawn wall... But it's global x is inside, y in perpendicular to wall and x,and z upwards ... Also local axis.... L3=y= blue is inside, ... Now what to do... Your was easy as all blue L3 outwards.... I tried every method but... As I run analysis... For water this side wall shows inside deflections and for soil shows outwards.... Any solution

Unit of C is Kn per cubic meter (Etabs) but in excel calculation show Kn per sq. meter would you pls explain about it thanks in advance

At 3.5 m Pressure = kN/m2, After solving the equation, C= kn/m2 divided by m= kN/m3.

@@Decodebd I am designing a slab with some walls around it (3 ft tall, not super big) and was wondering how to assign soil pressure on SAFE. SAFE does not give you the flexibility to assign loads on 1/3 of the wall & also design reinforcement / rebar. Any thoughts? I'd appreciate your help.
