Put your sod in a checkerboard pattern......sod, space sod. Water and use fertilizer. With time sod will grow and fill in the blank spots. In Fla they call it "plugs"

Jake.. you need to soak the ground over night. Break up the ground with a blade. Smooth it so it's level. Get some fertilizer sprinkle it over the wet ground... then buy grass seed for hard to grow spots. Water alot ( overnight) keep the dogs out. It may take a bit more money .. but the physical labor will be less and the yard will be fabulous!! Baby Morrow will have the best place to play!!

Hello Jake , BGrace is growing so fast my gosh !!! I’m watching this the day after you originally posted it…. But, I pray that you see this hun!!! My hubby was a landscaper for sooo many years , in saying so I learned a whole lot from watching him . When you have limited sod pieces, you spread them out & they will grow together…. The way you did it, will cause root rot a lot of the times . Maybe it’s not too late to go grab a few more pieces & spread them out farther apart. I’m not saying you’re “ stupid “ or anything like that, I’m not rude like some ppl on here can be, it’s simply a suggestion @ShirtlessJakesHomstead. It won’t hurt to try & also so rooting stimulants will help the grass create a stronger root system 🥰🙏 I love y’all & I pray Lyssa & baby boy are doing good !!! Maybe she’ll have him on my sons birthday 🥳 😊😊

Jake.. rake up your dirt. Make it rough. Add top soil to make it evenly distributed. Get quick grow grass seed. Sprinkle it over the soil. Then cover the seeded soil with a light layer of hay/straw. Water it as you watch it sprout and grow.🎉

Brynleigh is just like Jake but a female version. She’s down to do anything with her dad. She said no they’re looking at us all mysteriously 😂 Since you have such compacted sandy soil I’d get maybe 4-6 bags of top soil. Break up the soil that’s there add the top soil evenly and then the sod to the top. I love using the bags of patch seed but I just use that on small bare spots in my yard and it works really well. We have also bought just like 6 sections of sod before too in order to fill in a small section. Water it regularly so the roots can establish themselves, since your soil hot there you don’t want those small chunks to dry out to fast before they have established roots.

You need to add turf dirt and loosen the ground up. Fertilizer would be good too. Even better get some summer grass seed. It would be easier.

cutting the grass and stump your bucket over the dirt. Take it even might need to do it every time, atleast 2/3 times but The grass seeds will start growing from clippings and I’ll be work just keep area watered. At least worked for me I don’t use a basket (not sure what their called lol) but just shoot the grass when I mow and spray the grass towards the area I need it and it’s almost perfect after 2 months of daily watering if it doesn’t rain that day

Would it be better taking the grass from the edges by the woods rather than making holes in the field that someone might lose footing in and possibly hurting their ankle. Just an idea.
