Actually manatees are also called sea cows, and water can flow underwater as long as it’s denser than the water around it. That’s why you have underwater pools, lakes, etc.

@@Spikethealligator I hate to break it to you, but specifics like that don’t matter when most claim they are “the cows of the sea” with manatee in the same sentence, and most agree that they are interchangeable. I already am well aware that Steller was the first one to document sea cows in Antarctica during a Russian expedition, and that they were different in certain ways to the manatee. But when they went extinct and share so many characteristics that many zoologists and documenters decide to say they are interchangeable and that their similarities make them so close, I am going to stick with the majority of scientific opinion that says otherwise and is not hung up on historical specifics. Same as when other species like the faimily felidae are all colloquially referred to as “cats”
