So glad your video is still available. I dreaded calling a service to check on my pool timer. I’m 71 and my partner is afraid of all things electrical…OK plumbing as well 😆. I watched your video and knew I could do it so, I read the requirements for my pool (info was on the door of the timer box), took pictures before I started, to refer to. I did it! There was a ground wire with the original so it’s grounded. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Maybe this is an Amazon or vendor screw up, or maybe the T104M comes in different configurations, but i clicked the link posted for the timer only and it only has 2 terminals with hardware, so it's a 110V version. So either the link posted is wrong, or Amazon made a change at some point. All i can tell you is that the box says T104M, but it doesn't have all terminals configured. So i'm sending it back. I should have done more research than trust the parts listed. Good vid though, just disappointed i have to wait now longer to fix this. So do your homework people. Still, 5 mins to replace, super easy.

these intermatic clocks the 240 volt ones are rated 208-277 volts mainly used to control lighting. can be used in commercial refrigeration coolers without defrost termination just need multiple trippers to turn on and off the compressor be 3 more pairs of light and dark trippers but spaced together or apart for the defrost. as pump and light timers are just simple light can be 120 input for the clock motor and 277 volts for lighting.

Hi. Awesome video. I have almost this exact same set-up, but the red and black wires are all blue. Long story short, I had to cut them before I traced which went where into the 2-pole breaker. So my question, on your set-up you have two reds coming in from the breaker, and then two blacks going out to your pump. Does the order of those matter? I know the two reds go on 1 and 3, I'm not referring to that order. I mean does the order of the two wires going to the pump, 2 and 4, matter?

If after resetting the clock to the correct time and that time is within the run cycle, I should then set the manual switch to on? Unfortunately I had this scenario and set the manual switch to off....will the trippers correct this in a 24 hour cycle? (I ask as my timer is for a large water feature and a real SOB to access and it hasn't been 24hrs to see if it resets) Thanks for the video and get yourself a multimeter!

Why is a double pole timer required for pool applications as opposed to a single pole
@SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS
@SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS Жыл бұрын
Most pool pumps (at least in AZ) are 220V. There are a small percentage that are 110V and they take a single pole clock.

Hi if I have a heater and a pump do I need a timer for each one
@SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS

No, normally you tie in the heater to the same time clock as the pump so that it only turns on when the pump is running (really just another layer of safety redundancy)

I hate to say this, but at 0:42 seconds you see why the pump is always running. The manual override switch is set to "ON". If you want the timer to turn the pump on an off automatically you have to move the switch to off. You may have just replaced a non-faulty product.
@SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS
@SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS 4 жыл бұрын
False. The manual override switch below the clock face is overridden by the time clock tabs attached to the moving clock face. If the manual switch is in the “on” position and the face moves the “on” tab past the actuator, the switch remains on. When the face moves the “off” tab past the actuator when the switch is flipped to “on” it will automatically switch the clock off. In short, the tabs override the manual switch on Intermatic mechanical clocks. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the feedback as it allows me to clarify further how this mechanism works.

My pool pump comes on 7 days a week. Also, have one on my hot water heater. ( same timer) On at 5 am, off at 9am, on at 4pm, off at9pm.
@glasshalfempty1984
@glasshalfempty1984 4 жыл бұрын
Hot tubs are completely different from pool systems. Hot tubs are all in one and they only require power to work. They turn everything on and off as needed to keep the water warm. Pools are not like that. You have a bunch of different systems you connect together to make it one functioning unit and so you will need a timer for certain aspects of it....wait....you turn your hot tub off? I hope you don't mean that you literally turn the hot tub's breaker off because you're not supposed to do that. The water needs to pump through the system occasionally (and it takes care of that with it's built in timer) to keep it hot and to filter it.
@willrichtor
@willrichtor 4 жыл бұрын
Pools pumps need to run long enough every day to circulate the water through the filter to keep nastiness from blooming. Diatomaceous earth or zeolite as filter media act as a molecular sieve, trapping all sorts of microscopic critters and holding them there long enough for the residual chlorine to hopefully oxidize them. This is even more critical in spas and hot tubs, because of the heat. Without daily filtration and the addition of proper sanitizers (sodium hypochlorite or calcium hypochlorite) you are basically creating a hot swirling cauldron of bacteria the likes of which can rival the mouth of a Komodo dragon. Surely, hopefully, you were just talking about the blower.

Some electrician, I don't believe he hooked up the motor for the clock so it will not work. That supply is at the far left and the connection is empty when he closed out. Grounds missing, kid running around, no actual good test for voltage before working, didn't hook up the clock motor. Good luck!

FYI, the contacts on these timers, which you seem to not know about and should refrain from speaking on, are labeled, from left to right, A,1,2,3,4. 1 and 3 are line, 2 and 4 are load, and the green screw is for ground, which he addressed the lack of and the necessity for. Nothing connects to A(far left) in a standard configuration.
