Lyrics:
Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next
What happens next
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Honestly this is the first time I've listened to this since my oldest son was born and he is almost 5 and the first lines made me think of my sons. Wow. I was in college when this song came out and it means something completely different to me now hearing those lines. Kind of makes you tear up for a sec. What an awesome memory and connection you and your child will forever have with this song.

I was a 11 year old kid, homeless, living in a grandfather home they called it. We had to spend Christmas there me and my 2 older twin brothers who aren't with us anymore. I got 1 gift that year and it was from the rich guy who ran the grandfather home. It was Switchfoot: The Beautiful Letdown album. I use to lay in my bed under the covers and listen to this song and cry a lot. I've never told anyone that. Not even my wife. Song gives me inspiration when I need it. Thank you guys

God bless you. You made it through. So many have been left behind like so much old letters, loves, or songs. Songs like this make me feel hopeful, but sad. When will the end of pain come. Both physical and mental. And crying is so under rated. Cry your angst out to God if you believe, or just to the air. Cry, because it is Gods gift to us to relieve stress and sorrow. Don't hold back, it is our sorrow trying to die. Cry and then let it go...

In hell you die and keep coming back. on earth you die and get reincarnated over and over again for endless suffering. everyone is out for themselves when it comes down to it. love is not unconditional. It has conditions. People love their own kids because they are their kids. That's a condition. We live in a world where parents kill children and children kill parents daily. A world where a father abuses his own daughter. A mother sleeps with her own daughters husband. This world is hell and nothing more. I dont care about the few good moments hell has to offer. It's still hell

Sometimes I get so triggered from my past trauma that I can just sit and stare. I lose my grip on the present moment and it can vary in how long I dissociate. This song is a good reminder for me. I need lots of positive reminders to help empower me and push me forward. No sense in letting pain keep you stuck when it can be just what you need to push you forward! You got this!! @@Knightmare_143 There is nothing you can do to be less or more loved by God. Unfortunately, our mistakes lock our heart from the inside, and God doesn't break down the door.He says "Behold, I stand at the door and knock". Don't let the rust of error and guilt block the lock of your heart. Get attached to the Word of God, take moments of Bible reading and prayer, be ready to praise and have a grateful heart. Try to find a sincere, yet imperfect church to be with people of the same purpose. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice, and everything we can't do HE already did. Accept forgiveness and work hard not to fall prey to the same mistakes. And if you fall, have the courage to always go back to God's ways, and fight. Soon Jesus will be coming back and we will no longer have this pain and this human weakness. God bless in Jesus!!! And may the Holy Spirit give you strength to never give up.

In 2016, I went through what psychology calls “skill regression” after 2 traumatic experiences within the same year. I was my 13 year old self in my 26 year old’s body. I could no longer connect with people. I’d barely be able to string a few sentences together or follow along a convo with another person. I was as far away as Antarctica for all they knew. They say time travel isn’t possible, yet my 26 year old self was stuck in the past, living out present day . I was all the things I thought I overcame - Insecure, painfully shy, unsure of myself, and awkward. I’m 33 now. I’m happy to say I see glimpses of the old version of 26 me sometimes now. She has come out a little more often the last few years. Luckily I’ve grown up again and I appreciate her so much more when she comes around. I admit I took her for granted. Was super critical of her when she was as beautiful, funny, and awesome as she was. It wasn’t until I lost her did it humble me to see how much she meant to me and how much I wish I was her. she’s bringing to trust me more . I’ve shown her that I’m doing my best to live more authentically. I face my fears, and find the courage to break free from the cage of self limiting beliefs, learning self-love/compassion, and daring myself to move forward and farther and farther away from the past. I want to fight for her and protect her at all costs until she feels safe again. This song is the anthem to my hero’s journey.

I always liked this song but now that I'm a father it means something very different. It brings me to tears every time I hear it. It's a dedication to my son saying "dare you to move" like I can raise you the best I can but everything else is up to you and I dare you to do something great. It also is an encouragement to me to be a better father. We only have so many years with our children especially under our roofs and it's my responsibility to make the best of everyday with them.

Switchfoot's favorite song. When I first heard this song I liked it, but when I understood what it says I started to love as I never loved any song in this world. This song has blessed me so much, I've always thought that this song came to my life when I needed it the most, 'cause during my adolescense I was having irregular times and listening to this song gave a different view of life. I saw a bigger picture when I understood the meaning, the message and the mission I started since that day. If you're having irregular times like I did, listen but most importantly, try to figure out every line of this amazing lyrics, so you'll see bigger picture and understand that God has sent us here to grow as individuals and help others with our story. Thanks so much Switchfood, I will always love this song.

I remember listening to this song as a kid, and I absolutely loved it. But now that I'm 21, this song speaks to me so deeply. I'm in tears as I type this. This past year has been the hardest so far. But I know better days are ahead, and there's a plan even for a fuck up like me. Keep your heads held high people. I dare you to move, like today never happened. Much love to anyone that is fighting their own demons right now!
@jesajones2305

Better days are indeed ahead, even if we have to wait until Christ's Second Coming, but I pray you find joy before then. I don't know your situation, but I can sympathize, I think. I lost my dog to kidney failure and pneumonia about a month ago, and in that same week, I found out my grandmother got cancer. It's been tough, but I know things could be worse. I'm surrounded by people who love me, I have a roof over my head and food to eat, and I'm blessed in more ways than I can count. Focus on the good, and the bad won't hold you down so easily. Unexpected case in point: I have a bad headache right now, but when I started focusing on what I could say that might help you and anyone else reading this, the pain eased off. The headache is still there, but it's in a more tolerable range now. God bless!

Just remember not to confuse religion with Christianity. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in all the “don’t do this. Do this” stuff that you forget what it’s all for and what the deeper purpose to it all is. Jesus understands our imperfections and has already paid for all of it on the cross. He really just wants a relationship with us. He expects us to fall and fail from time to time…. It’s about how we get back up and choose Him again that He cares about

@@yardchef9661 The deeper purpose indeed. Faith in the truth is necessary and glorious. it makes us able to hold forth a new standard of the man's kind. Faith is a judge to all. A sword of judgement, dividing good from evil, and a weapon to deliver it's edge should we need it too. Especially because we who are new, are already judged with the same Sword. And found righteous by it, and doing so by our faith in Christ who was destroyed on across to take our doom under it. Because he had nothing to pay for, unlike us. But, there are two other vital things necessary be fully using their new life. And one is love. And the other hope. Love matters because without it you are going to find it impossible to care about vital aspects of the faith you might have. You really can't want to give others the truth of your standard, so that you desire others wellbeing, and so desire the are bettered in that truth. If only for care of their edification alone. Unselfish and loving as a fundamental basis first. Guiding your faith, so that you can see more, and understand Gods ways which makes you able to be ontrack in your faith more often. Then there is hope. Hope is faith sustaining. Hope is understanding the place you are now. Your mission, your thoughts, your life and faith and love. The scheme woven by God's plan to redeem man. You do so by understanding and keeping your eyes on the future. On how things were, andwhat that meant to our forbears. And on the other side, we know our future is assured in heavy. That the time we are hear for is the literal beginning of you new eternal life. This allows you understand our mission after the victory by Christ. Our calling to this body of Christ to deliver the good news. To be ambassadors forChrist. To fight here, not for victory, but for the process of salvage of any man who believes. makes this seem so rare and precious in this twilight age, as powerful spiritually as we will be while in Heaven with Christ some day. But with the mandate to use that power, t protect and save all men, which occasionally requires it's cutting, but just as likely giving sight to bolster and show tuth here. That's what it is to be here now. Which is a tiny bit of time here. With astoundingly amazing and wonderful prizes to be won. The eternal souls, and total redemption which you could never have paid for by yourself. Anyway. Hopefully that was coherent. It's is a sense I have been starting to see more and more. And is an answer to many weaknesses I've witnessed, and wanted to address in my life, but was unsure how too.

are they a religious band? I heard this in church. true story. no I'm lying. I heard it somewhere similiar.. but w/ a darker, fd up twist. too much,.. but it was touching. and a religious human was trying to comfort me too while then. I don't usually like those things but she was nice

yes, Switchfoot and Relient k were the bands of the early 2000s 90s Christian kids loved to death. great times, honestly, especially Creation fest

They are all Christians, but their music isn't as up front about it as most other Christian bands. It seems like it is kind of meant to make people think about Christianity, almost like it is written for the non-Christian just as much as it is for the Christian.

Daniel Kemper i think they are keeping the same philosophy of the book of Esther. No mention of God. But his presence is in the mix at all time

Como foi bom ter meus 19 anos em 2002 e escutar essa música, andar de sk8, passar perrengue de grana, mas também tenho boas recordações.... recordar é viver!!!

When this song came out I was the same age as some of my classmates teenage kids today. I was also just an immigrant in US living below poverty level not able to afford even the bare minimum with parents doing odd jobs trying to put me through school so I can have a better life. Today I have been in executive level for 3 different fortune 500 companies. Even though I live very comfortably now, this song brings back memories that I will cherish forever.

Its been 2 years since. I lost my way when i was in highschool. Met some bad friends and tried some stuff at an early age. My youth was a complete shit. But one thing i dont regret is meeting her. She was weak, she was taking a lot of medications and always in the hospital. But she was always smiling, she knows whats gonna happen but still decided to go out with me. She never gave up on life and always tried her best to get up. Seeing her becoming more and more weak breaks my heart. Thoughts keeps playing in my head like `` Wth am i doing going out with this woman``. But i cant give up on her. I told myself ill do my best to make her happy while were still together. She introduced me to this song one day while walking outside of the hospital near the gardens. Under that Tree sitting in a bench while she sits on her wheelchair we listen to this song. I was 18 when she passed away. `` thank you for the memories, please forget about me`` was the last words she told me. Its her death anniversary, im here sitting in the same bench under the tree listening to this song. I dont feel sad, coz i know shes out there somewhere.

God bless you, man. I hope you're feeling better now. I'm not overly religious, but I've always believed that human beings never die, they just evolve into something greater. Those that we love always remain within us because though it's only the body that's gone. The spirit lives on forever in the unified human consciousness. She's still with you, bro. Take care and keep moving.
