Hello you, I hope you're good! This is part one of two of my trying to actually get my life back together with a flip phone! I'd noticed that I'd really started to get addicted to my phone and scrolling on social media especially after the lockdowns and I knew that something had to change since my life was literally passing me by. I've tried apps in the past to block the social media apps, but I'd always just turn them off lol, so I needed something a bit more drastic. So I'm trying out a flip phone/dumb phone!
It took me a while to find one that could work for my life, but I finally settled on the LG Smart folder which I got from eBay for around 60 pounds. It has GPS, google maps and an android setting on it so I can still connect to people via whatsapp etc! In this part, I set up the phone and chat with my friend Petros and my partner Rain about how we used to live or lives without smart phones. The next part will be me actually using the flip phone for a week and giving you a tour of it! I hope you enjoy!

i asked my parents to get me a flip phone when i was 13 because i was starting to get addicted to social media…they said no, and ten years later, i am indeed very addicted to social media. i’m considering getting one soon though. yours is so cute!!

Yess I think it's because of safety really and there's somethings you do need a smartphone for like online banking, ticket scans etc. You'll see in the next part I still think it's worth having another phone though that's not as smart because I get so much more done!

Haha it's true though, I'm more likely to use things if they look pretty lol. And you're so right, smart phone but not really smart life lol

As good as the technology on phones is nowadays, they're nothing like the sleek handsets they used to make. They feel so big and bulky because they want to keep making them with bigger screens. I think you have the right idea going with a flip phone.

I agree, we've also lost the personalisation of phones! I know we can get different cases now but they all look the same. Before when all the phones were different it was part of your personality which one you had haha

Outch. A few years ago when mine was nicked. It went to Spain. It was blocked in UK but still worked there, Luckily I called my brother in law in Madrid and he bricked it in Spain 😂

this was so cute! I used to have a flip phone, but then they went out of style (the first time) I actually hate phones, hate talking on them. I have it for work and that's really it, it has my Napster so I can listen to music at work, in my car, or when I walk or run.

Good Morning Kelsey! It is good to see you - wondered how you were doing - almost didn't recognize rhe name. LOL 😮😊 The cure and balance for me is being surrounded by people who love me and who are not addicted. Right now we are visiting our 6 Grandchildren who live in Thailand - ages 2yr-16yr and we stayed up reading to each other and playing card games!!! Goung HOME after 7wks - wonder how it will be? It is wonderful to connect, but you are too special to be relegated into a "virtual you" so hope you are successful in bringnout of the corporate merry-go-round. ❤ DrM

My Girlfriend loves the Razor phones, especially the old keyboard ones. She could type soo fast with the little keyboard.lol. And Wired headphones are the best.

I used to have one back in the day and I LOVED it. I've gotten used to the keypad again and I'm quite fast but not as fast as a touch screen haha. As for wired headphones, they're cute, but wait for part 2 of this video, I start to have problems with them haha

OMG I miss my Motorola flip phone. I had the purple one💜 I flipped it so hard. The top half flew off and hit the ground as I’m standing there saying hello LMFAO.😂 and I think that was my last flip phone so beware of that lol if it goes well, you might even talk me into getting another one because I agree my screen time is getting ridiculous too lol this was a good idea I’ll have to do this tbh lol ❤🎉

Switching to a "dumb" phone does have a huge downside though: _many cellphone carriers are no longer supporting 2G (and sometimes 3G) digital cellular networks_ . That means a lot of older phones won't work on today's digital cellphone networks. 🙁 Make your the "dumb" phone you buy support Voice over LTE (VoLTE), which means it will work with the current 4G/5G digital cellular networks out there.

Because I need them to upload content and desktop isn’t as friendly especially for IG stories. Also I mention in the next video I work as musician and unfortunately a lot of people DM me through social media and I need to access that on the day of shows and I can’t be carrying a computer around for that lol
