Hey! I'm Swiss and I've got a drivers licence from Switzerland. Before you mentioned the 2nd reason and when I've only seen the footage I was already thinking, why you're driving in the middle. I've drove with many friends in Switzerland. And besides one friend, all other friends would drive in the right side. Regardless if someone is there or not. Unless you're racing the car (which of course isn't legal). 3rd point: i practiced the Notbremse once or twice during the lessons. The reason you only practice it a few times is that it kind of hurts. The Notbremse (emergency break) has to be as strong as possible. You're supposed to fly through the windshield if you didn't have your seat belt on. That's how hard you need to break.
@jacsonluizmai2294

I believe that using more weight/pressure for emergency braking is to activate the ABS system and have more efficient braking. If you use the brake with lightweight/pressure, the car will take longer to stop, and it will be less efficient. In emergency braking, it is recommended to use all possible force on the brake pedal. I performed practical preventive driving exams in Brazil with racing drivers, and this was a very strong recommendation.

I agree with the second reason, because it's a driving test you have to perform by the book. Like he said assume there are cars on the road at all times and after you pass the test you can middle the road as long as there is no cars coming.

That's right even if your driving into a parking lot you suppose to drive on your side even if nothing not coming. but for the yielding a yield sign should be there so you know to yield to oncoming traffic.

Thank you so much for doing this video and for sharing your experiences with us. I am currently living in Switzerland and I attended some classes for my driver's license exam. Unfortunately, the rules are a bit different in Switzerland as you mentioned. However, you examiner was correct accourding to the swiss rules. I know this because my teacher told me about them. I am writing this here so as to help others. And again thank you so much for sharing.

The issue with Nr 2 is that if it would be not necessary to ride on the very right, people will ride the middle of the street even when it's unsafe (before or in curves, before slopes...) If you drive in the middle there, you might not have a chance to react in time, and just imagine if the oncoming car does the same. It is just a law, but I (Swiss driver) also would drive like you on an open road where it's safe. But it's always better to stick to the right side. And for Nr 3 it is possible that after 27 years of driving (especially in different countries) you just have formed a lot of habits, that everybody would do after that time but those differ from the written law. So for the exam it's best to forget how you would drive in normal life and just stick to the rules. Obviously this makes sense for new drivers to first learn exactly the safe and right way, so that they can build their normal driving habits on that. For an older/experienced driver this is of course hard because he/she has already gone through that process and then it's hard to go back to go by the book

I remember my first road test. My instructor told me that when I am parking I should touch the curb when I reverse and when I feel the curb I should then turn the wheel all the way to the right or left go forward and there I have a perfect park so I did as we practice and I failed my first road test. But I passed the second so I have confidence that you will pass the second one.

The braking test is actually a legit point, my sister just recently had a car accident while she was driving my car, she ended up rear-ending someone likely because A: she drove to close and B: she probably didn't brake hard enough, so the car was totaled. When trying to avoid a collision, every kilo of pressure on the brakes count and could prevent a needless accident. That being said, Swiss driving tests, theoretical and practical take a few tries for pretty much everyone. Only very few pass either test on the first or second try.

I don't agree with you. The problem in your case was not the brake but the closeness of the vehicle.

Riding the banking instead of shifting to the left [ cars driving in opposite directions] again it depends on how near on,, or close to the right side banking- SAFETY IS THE KEY TO DRIVING IN ANY COUNTRY. Road examiners have different opinion,, experiences, and ideas. The amount of experience suggest 'SaFe driver". In this instance; may be better to go exactly by the book- apply your own experience for safe driving techniques Steagedy > [ avoiding an accident is paramount.

5:50 I’m surprised! Honestly where u drove I expected the others to wait. It’s logic. But here people do whatever and push and speed and we honestly don’t know what’s right or wrong anymore. The amount of times I wait to cross and I’m almost ran over for them speeding. - I still can’t believe it but I’m sure they would have mentioned it at the practice driving or didn’t they? / and for the emergency stop, my instructor better hold on😂

Hi Ian. similar expeirence here. I've had my first license in 1992 and failed the driving exam in Zurich. the three points you mentioned are indeed part of the usual driving exam here. I do agree though that subjectivity is a big part of the process. I've heard of people doing "atrocities" on their exam but the examiner still passed them. I on the other hand did not do a single "fatal" mistake but still I failed. I think it gets a lot of getting used to until you are fully able to master driving vy Swiss rules and thus can have a near perfect exam that takes a lot of the subjectivity out of the process. I just hope this happens before I go bankrupt because of the expensive lessons :D
2 жыл бұрын
Interestingly, I have heard from good source that some specific test centers in some Stadt are guaranteed to fail drivers on the first exam, despite how well or terrible one drives. Keeping this in mind, I would say trust your driving skills, new knowledge of Swiss Road Codes and spend no more money on learning because as you said it, it is very expensive. I trust that you will pass on your next attempt as I did.

Plus you are playing wrongly the video, in fact you were approaching from the direction the car with the camera is going towards, and yes in all countries in Europe, if you have such signs on the road or priority to the right intersection case, it works exactly like in Switzerland

But the full stop one is kinda pathetic, that one is just as the mood of the examinar sometimes like that and sometimes like this. Sometimes they just try to find things as an excuse to not let u pass... A girl that used to take lessons at the same time as I did passed the exam even though she busted a red light lol! Thank you for the video! I was freaked out by the stories of people failing the driving test. I have been driving for around 16 years, but after your video and other comments I was nervious. I took a driving class to get some prefesional advice about my driving skills, to be more confident for the test. After a 1.5 hour driving with the teacher (200 CHF) and just some minors observations, the guy told me I had to take at least 8 leasons to be ready for the test (1000 CHF)!!!!! and tried to scared me of how long is the process for getting the licence if I would fail. I got so mad, he just wanted to rob me! I got so frustatrated and mad, that people try to make money in not honest way no matter the country, I thought before Switzerland was different.... any way I didnt took more clases, I used the obervacions that the teacher said, before trying to rob me, which was bassicaly to turn my head like in the exorcist movie to check blind spots. I did a similar circuit as the one you did for around 50 minutes, and I passed the test. I apreacite you took the time to put this video together, because it was helpfull to me, and maybe to others aswell. Cheers!

Oh and he always mentioned (i am not sure whether he meant it good or tried to scare me) he mentioned I have only one chance to do the exam, if i fail i have to redo from the beginning including the theories stuff. I mean... I really wanna get it done and don't wanna have anymore stress by the teacher and by the due date of practical exam. I have to pay for the driving teacher 10 times that also cost 1000 CHF too... and in the meantime i have to stop practice with driving teacher due to the corona situation. I don't understand this first point. Are you driving on a secondary or main road here? So if the other person is coming from your left, would, you not have priority then since you are on their right?

Jinette W. If the other person is coming from the left, you have the right of way because (1) you are on the right of them and (2) you are on the priority road. However, if I was going in the opposite direction, the car would be on my right and has priority.

You should stay completely to the right whether or not there is another vehicle oncoming. That's anywhere. I'm in TX and I've driven in NY as well as London. Stating what applies/doesn't apply in another country is not acceptable excuse. Studying Swiss driving rules prior to the test is the only thing that applies in this case. A quick read would have avoided the three errors mentioned. Not yielding is reason for failure in itself. Try again, you should be fine next time if those were your only flaws. Marjorie

Swiss Driving licence here. All three are mistakes, according to swiss driving law. Basically no one (not even the police would pull you over for the last two.) BUT for the driving instructors thats law. The brakeing thing has to do with the fact that most people in accidents did not break hard enough. Accidents could be prevented. That's why you learn to hammer the brakes with all your force. They want to see that in the exam. And you should in an emergancy, not hesitate to throw yourself no the brakes.

Hello, interesting what you say in the video. But; Driving abroad for years, even without accidents, is not enough! The roads with equal rights were already clear, whether this is only the case in Switzerland or not. It doesn't matter, it is the case in the local road traffic law, you have to respect that or you have no right to drive a vehicle. Furthermore, there are rules on mountain roads that you probably did not know, but are essential. The same applies to the right-hand drive, it does not matter whether there is traffic or not. And the emergency braking, at least if you have your foot on the pedal as shown in the photo, would also fail with me, because you can't build up enough pressure immediately. In my opinion, failing is not so arbitrary, it is entirely justified.
