We take a lot for granted don't we. This marvel of engineering has been constructed in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of Switzerland. I would be totally fascinated to see just how they did it. How did they dig the footings for each one of the towers and how did they get the concrete there let alone the towers themselves. How did they get those huge steel beams up there 🤢Hats off to all concerned.

This video brings back some wonderful memories. My wife and I spent our two-week honeymoon travelling Switzerland by rail in 2006 - Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Interlaken, Lucerne, and finally three days in Zermatt where we went on this cable car ride. We had unbroken sunshine for the whole ride from Zermatt to the Klein Matterhorn summit, and we were treated to the most fabulous views. On the way back down, we got off the Gondola and walked back to Zermatt from the first station as it was such a lovely evening. I won't forget the waterfalls, the marmots, the colourful alpine meadows, and the sound of cowbells reverberating across the valley. Now I want to go back. Bliss!

There wasnt any fog we could see each and every bit clearly from the top. The Gondola trip was amazing. Though it was scary but we would thorouly enjoyed it. One of the most beautiful ride was we went in train to jungfroch to see mount Alphs. The train went inbetween the glaciers mountain. Both side full of ice. The scinery was so beautiful and was snowing inbwteen. It was really a amazing trip. When you go to switzerland you must go to both the places, both the rides gives a different beautiful experience.

If anyone plans to go up there, please be very careful and read about the symptoms of altitude sickness. It's best to stay a few days in Zermatt (1600 m) before attempting to go all the way up, otherwise if you stay too long at 3800 m, you might get one the worst headaches of your life plus nausea and difficulty breathing. Especially if you have heart or lung problems, make sure to ask your doctor if it's OK (it probably is, but remember that breathing in that low-pressure air takes a rather big toll on your body). Up to about the altitude of the next-to-last station (Trockener Steg at 2950 m or so) you'll probably be alright even if you arrive from sea level.

I went up Haleakala many years ago. 3.005 meters. Was fine the first half hour, then hypoxia kicked in. Could barely walk, at all. Scary. I don’t understand how people can go to these heights, then go skiing.
@wyqtor Жыл бұрын
@@davidwebb4904 It depends on genetics and other factors. I found out the hard way in Lhasa in Tibet. The worst part there was that there was no place to descend to. I've also been to Jungfraujoch twice last year in the course of a week. First time I had the headache and I nearly threw up on the train down. By the second time I had acclimatized somewhat and it was OK for me with minimal issues, but I also didn't linger too long up there.

@@simonrees9441 Yeah, they can swing about a bit. I was up in one when the wind got up and the cars were hitting the pylons. They took them down very slowly and did a very good job. They had a bad safety record in the past, but this time they excelled themselves getting everyone down safely. The wind came out of nowhere, it had been some drizzle, then it went away and a strong wind started suddenly! That was a bit scary, but I knew one of the guys there and if they couldn't get us down safely they would have left us hanging and took us down by rope, not something I would have looked forward to, but they practice this a lot.

I've been lucky to spend many weeks over the years in Zermatt. All during the winter and its a place like no other in the world. Taking the Tockener Steg cable car to the top is mind blowing. That last gap before you get in the shed is crazy, its super steep and very high. In the morning on a windy day with it moving around the cable car can get quiet. You exit out of the shed and then get hit with huge winds normally, strap in and head down to get out of the wind blast. You can ski to Italy from this Cable Car. Something about carrying a passport to get to lunch is so cool.

This clearly qualifies as one. Ive grown so tired of videos where there's constant bombardment of pleas to like, support & subscribe to the channel all in pursuit of posting new content for nothing more than higher view counts and/or getting or maintaining internet notoriety. If there was more focus on content & presentation that would all probably come without having to constantly remind viewers. Thank you for not being one of those channels & allowing us these natural pleasures. Its creators like yourself, who have given their personal time & resources to open our eyes to the world around us & help in adding detail to our dreams of faraway places while also creating destinations for many bucket lists in hopes of experiencing those dreams first hand.
