We had the honor of opening for Crowbar in 2010 at the Alrosa and while it was incredible, the fact I was literally standing where one of my biggest musical influences died was beyond surreal… I can’t even imagine how Kirk must have felt playing afterward. It’s kind a shame it’s gone and I’ll never quite believe that the beating heart of my favorite metal band of all time met his end where I grew up seeing shows The morning after he was killed felt/feels like a dream. I walked into school and my best friend at the time, our guitarist, was standing in the rotunda and told me. He and I worshipped Pantera and grew up listening to every record and watching the home videos and memorizing every note and word. I still can’t really believe both of the Abbott brothers are gone, but the music remains and the energy they put into it will ensure the love of Pantera is something that will continue to bring people together forever

Can’t believe ARV if finally gone. Growing up in the Columbus music scene in the 90’s and early 00’s, I played and attended hundreds of shows there and I wish everyone could have known the venue, bands, the Cautella family and the staff like some of us knew them. The place wasn’t perfect but it’s hard to completely blame that incident on security when a deranged, 300lb 6’4” dude with weapons charged over a fence.

I played at the alrosa villa a handful of times back in 2005, 2006 and just walking into the club, standing on that stage where it all happened was surreal. First time I stood on the spot where it happened it brought me to tears. There was still a bullet hole in the stage left dressing room door, it sent chills down my spine seeing it. I'm glad to know that it's being torn down.

I live in Ohio & saw Jinjer at the Alrosa Villa. It was my first time in there since what happened to Dime and it took quite a while for the uneasy and weird feelings of the place to wear off and just be able to enjoy the show. It was impossible not to keep thinking about what happened in there.

Ohio here as well. It is comforting to visit the tree out back that Dime always partied with us at. We carved a memorial into it and I swear there is at least 1/2 lb of half smoked joints in there. I haven’t been there since the demo, I hope the tree stands

Really happy to hear that you mentioned the Alrosa Villa. Only an hour away from where I live, I played there a couple times. Two of the worst experiences I've ever endured. As you mentioned the venue was extremely weird for starters. Strange vibes in there, it just seemed like a dark, unwelcoming place. My band played a benefit show called the "Fuck Heroin" show where all of the local rap acts were outside snorting coke and shooting up.... wtf. Then we played a show were we opened up for Mushroomhead... our set was cut short because THEY were behind on schedule. The unprofessionalism was uncanny to say the least and it does not affect me that the venue has been torn down.
@DudeMcGuybro
@DudeMcGuybro 2 жыл бұрын
I'm from Cleveland and I have an endless supply of Mushroomhead horror stories, like how they made us raise our prices of our merch, didn't let me finish loading out my equipment and I lost 1000 dollars in pedals. Their security blocked off the doors we were loading out of and told me to contact the venue owner the next day to get my pedal board. I called, guess what? They had no clue what I was talking about, and I never got the pedals back. Fuck Mushroomhead, great piece of advice, don't ever open for them, or do business with them or any of their 15 million side acts.

We ended up playing what ultimately was the final show at The Alrosa Villa back on February 14th 2020 in a Battle for Inkcarceration. Seeing all of the Dime tributes in the dressing room/green room area was very surreal. Like yourself we got to stand were Dime passed away, and it was sad and a little spooky. It looks like they got rid of the big boulder out front that everyone would paint for Dime too. Such a historic venue for many reasons and it's sad to see it god, but we were very fortunate and grateful to have been on stage for the final show there.

Hopefully their will be some kind of memorial there , also whatever is being built there will probably be haunted. I wouldn't be surprised at all if weird things happen. Whenever there's a tragedy or accidental death their is energy left behind , it doesn't matter if they take the building down or not. You always hear stories like this of haunting's....
@officialfaithinfailure
@officialfaithinfailure 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeg.9238 unfortunately I don't think there will be a memorial. The place got demolished to put up affordable housing here in Columbus. I wouldn't be surprised either if there were weird things happening in the future.

@@officialfaithinfailure That's to bad , in my opinion their should be something. Also i wouldn't be surprised either , usually in places of tragedies there are some haunting's or "weird things" that happen in the spot. Doesn't matter what they put up because their will be bad energy still there. I totally believe in that kind of stuff , because when my mother passed several years ago their were lets just say some unusual occurrences that happened and couldn't be simply dismissed as coincidental. Never believed in that stuff before , but my wife and i witnessed it together. So i guess time will tell....
@officialfaithinfailure
@officialfaithinfailure 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeg.9238 first off I'm sorry about the loss of your mother. That's never easy. I definitely agree there should be something done for Dime in that area, but I don't see that happening without people making a fuss about it. Anything paranormal always seems to be unique to the individuals involved. I don't doubt that you and your wife have witnessed some things in your time. I've been lucky or unlucky, depending on your view, because I've never seen anything personally. My wife on the other hand has on different occasions all before we ever met. Her telling of things are always interesting.
@mikeg.9238

@@officialfaithinfailure Thank you and you are probably right about the memorial for dime. It's unfortunate that it will be forgotten , especially because he was an amazing guitarist and a legend in the metal community. Also the experience we had was not negative , it was actually comforting. I think the experiences people have depend on the circumstances of the death....

From the late 1980’s through the early 2000’s I had so many awesome Metal nights at the Alrosa Villa @ 5055 Sinclair Rd in Columbus Ohio. Thank God I moved to South Florida in 2004 eight months before Dime was brutally murdered on stage. I’ve never been back to Columbus and stepped foot in that building since moving, I definitely wouldn’t of been able to go inside. I’m totally ok with that building being reduced to rubble and eliminating the true evil that existed after that night! Ola you must have had some serious emotions in that position on stage the night you played and I wish that the Alrosa Villa would have just never opened back up after Dimes death. 🤘🤘
