The heavy voice-over aside, this was just two fun sparring matches we had with Angel (www.youtube.com/@AngelChernaevHistoricalFencing) last Saturday, while we tried abusing the SIGI Rapier with arming swords.
Weapons used:
SIGI Rapier (fullered) - sigiforge.com/products/sigi-rapier/
SIGI Junior Arming sword - sigiforge.com/products/sigi-sword-and-buckler-combo/
Malleus Martialis Pro Buckler - www.malleusmartialis.com/product/pro-buckler/

weve moved on from passive aggression towards rapiers to outright warfare ...

Hmm I've tried rapier and buckler vs rapier and dagger. Overall having a buckler is a huge advantage. The only issue with the buckler I see is being too enthusiastic about controlling the opponent's blade and getting feinted.

With equal main weapons it becomes a comparison of the offhand weapons, yes.

Heh, heh, heh... I'm left handed and that has messed up many of opponents in my time.

@@borislavkrustev8906 True, however from the years that I've done this, there were not many people that could have dealt with a southpaw that can switch hands and fight effectively. One of my best attacks was a snap shot to my opponents leg Nobody expects this because they are always told even back then in my time, about the high risks involved taking the leg shot. IMHO it is not that bad if you are aware of those risks. I ended my career learning most of the sword techniques and the use of shields no larger than 18 inches. I also learned a little bit on the use of pole arms as well. The use of a Naginata was my end of usage of that style of melee weapons. HEMA is nice but it is not the end of it all as well. With today's style of boxing, and what they Call MMA, the fundamentals of defensive fighting are not being taught as it takes too much time to teach them correctly. I ended my 40 year in defensive fighting by learning the fundamentals of Krav Maga (after learning several other defensive techniques of course through out my life). Regardless of what natural abilities you have. Without the knowledge and training of the skills that are required to get the fundamentals down... and to continue to train with the knowledge that you have in those fundamentals that you have acquired... You will not get far (especially in life) in the environment that you are in. And that is how I will end my reply to your little Quip. :)

@@actionjoe22 It was rather just two regular 2-minute spars from which I made a simple narrative. Needless to say, the actual way they unfolded was not like this :D

Which arming swords does your group use for sword & buckler?

Hi! Nowadays we encourage people to get SIGI Juniors, but before we used Reg I.33 and Albion I.33. The SIGI Queen is also nice. For a basic full-intensity sword, get the Junior.

Guy with buckler stands at distance of thrust/cut of rapier, instead of came closer, for his distance, or more far, to get out from rapier thrust. Why?

Standing far away achieves nothing - if you don't wanna fence, just don't fence. And as you can see, both of us went in when possible.
